Next on the list for my double door panel is to weld the floor in and the rear wheel cutouts. I think I am going to save up some hundo’s and see if John will bang it out in a weekend when he isn’t busy. Need to finish the welding on outside so I can make some swivels and get those windows in the front and side doors. It need a lot of work. But it’s at the right place. ?mtnbusParticipantDecember 14, 2017 at 9:09 amPost count: 1106

I’m looking at a roller ’69 this Saturday. Guy wants $750.00. He’s in no hurry, so post up some pics when you can.

Jesse… I think you got cock blocked by Rusty’s thing this week… 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆68tintopParticipantDecember 17, 2017 at 9:36 pmPost count: 722
So I checked out the super beetle vert today and it needs pan work they are shot. Drivers rear fender is smashed up from a tire blowout and drivers door is fuckered up by the handle. Car is yellow with a karman badge by the passander door. It’s just about complete it’s got front and rear seats that need work. Windows are good and it has a Arizona title 600$ and a towbar bolted to the front?? The motor is a solid 1600cc dualport with a case #AH2688 I think. He has some extra Weber ict duals carbs for the motor but it has a 2 barrel Webber on it. Good deal but I don’t need a SB Vert for yard art so if anyone is into it let me know. I am going to buy it for the motor.John JonesKeymasterDecember 18, 2017 at 7:25 amPost count: 6545
Buy it for the motor, and just scrap it! 😉John JonesKeymasterDecember 18, 2017 at 7:25 amPost count: 6545
all though… I think we need more 4 lug wheels… 💡 💡 for the baja team 😀68tintopParticipantDecember 18, 2017 at 8:49 amPost count: 722
Yep that’s what I thought but it for the motor. Yep it has 5 spare wheels if u want them but they come with a SBVERT that you guys can scrap. Maybe a good tranny too?BBWBParticipantDecember 18, 2017 at 9:06 amPost count: 825
That should have the nice one sided deferential transmission. Stronger than the two sided, better for racing. 3:88R&P too.

Is that tranny good for a bus tranny too. I might need a good tranny for my panel ?. Haven’t tried the one that is in there yet but I want that bus to cruise.BBWBParticipantDecember 18, 2017 at 2:18 pmPost count: 825

If you wanted to convert you panel to trailing arms and CV axles like Franz and I are running, you could use it. It would be OK lowered configuration too.

I am still thinking about buying that car for the motor. I don’t like scraping out Vw’s. It hurts my karma. Maybe I just pick up a motor from my buddy. I gotta focus on the rust repair fort get that done then I can start buying more parts. My bus is full of parts to be welded on and installed like windows for camper and doors. I got lots of work to do. I need to talk to John to see if we can make this his next personal project for me and I can help as much as I can so I can learn. I wanna restore Vw’s when I get older that’s we’re I wanna be in the dirtyshop ?John JonesKeymasterDecember 21, 2017 at 9:29 amPost count: 6545
I’m trying to get out of the dirty shop and Jesse wants in… 😉 😉 😉 Too much dirty shop work leads to a worn out joints and back… 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 a smart man figures out an easier way to make a living, and pays a dumb ass like me to do the work… 😀 😀 😀 But with that said…. there is a lot of satisfaction in doing your own shit… 😉 Not being dependent on anyone else to get what you want, you can do it your damned self… 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂BBWBParticipantDecember 21, 2017 at 11:02 amPost count: 825
I learned my wrenching skills from watching and working with my dad. I learned rust repair from watching KCW over the years.

Balance, JJ, not either or. You can do enough to keep your hands dirty, skills sharp, and teaches by doing, and you can also step back at times and let the help handle what’s in their wheelhouse and spare the physical toll. Look no further than your clean shop for an example. 😉
