rotisserie resto!!! show bus! Shasta 2023?

Yes, for one big show then it’s driving the shit out of it. I can’t want to see what this bus will do when it is done.

I taped up the windows and POR15, sprayed sealer and then the BG. I need to do more touch up since the sealer is showing through. Taping takes up so much time on a project that you are trying to preserve as much paint as possible. There has been several times I wish I had blasted the body and painted it but it wouldn’t be as cool.

I am loving  the art of painting, getting  that gloss in a single stage is rewarding. Hopefully I can pull it off on a large panel.

Next I need to paint the SWR in the gas flap area and cargo door seal area.

boy oh boy…. yeah… thats more time consuming than just blasting and painting… I know.. beeen there many times.. Hard to explain to a customer though…” Sir.. saving that OG paint and doing blends is more expensive than a full resto….     But not as COOL” 😎 😎 😎

So I created another delay. I wasn’t happy with the thickness of the Raptor liner in the wheel wells and belly pans.  So I am sanding them down to add more.

I also wanted to update that I am taking a break from the bus for a week or two and it won’t be in Moab in a few weeks and there might be a possibility I might not go. I lost a close friend to a tragic accident in the Grand Canyon on Monday and it has made me realize I don’t spend enough time with family and friends. When I’m off work most is spent on VWs. It’s been a real battle for me the last two years with having  a son now and trying to find time for everything. I battled some dark demons last year and this current situation has reminded me again of how precious life is and it can be gone in a second. I am also reminded again that life should be lived to the fullest extent possible. She died doing what she loved. Like the saying goes or maybe its my saying “those who die young are the lucky ones”. Here is a link about her.

Hug the ones you love and spend every second you can with them. Also if you think about doing something fun but have hesitations, just go do it because it might be your last day. YOLO!

Jason, just heard about that accident from some friends. So sorry for your loss. I know you know how notorious Ledges is. Hance rapid claimed a Steamboat local earlier this year too.

Thanks Will, it’s a bummer but out of tragedy there is a lot of sunshine. Just need to reprioritize life, ready to get back to work on this bus and get it done. KCW are you guys around the 4th of July time-frame? I would  like to come down with the bus and get some shit done.

Thanks! Bummer on the shock mount! Definitely reinforcing it now and going with the Bilstien after talking to Mitch last night. I’m bummed it won’t have cool adjustable FOX shocks but I’m all about functionality over looks.

With the couple shock mounts ripping off the buses, how should I go about reinforcing this late model shock mount? I have removed the bump stops on the axle tubes so I won’t be using those, figured it might give a little more travel.
