Wasn’t able to get much done since wife had the flu last week. Finished the paint this weekend and ready for Raptor liner. Need to get the front cab painted still. Started with KBS coatings
then followed it up with color matched beige gray paint. Still learning on how to paint and get a good technique. Single stage is hard to get a consistent gloss.
Another step closer. You have the engine and transaxle done already?
Anybody that shows up in Moab on a trailer is getting one of these. haha
Don’t worry, I will already have one on mine before Moab. I will be towing because I’m hoping to come by KCW and do the roof rack, panels and Winch mount either before or after the Ottinger event. Maybe it will also help feeling not getting hurt when others get one on their vehicle.
looking good! Can’t wait to road trip with ya! That intakes for super duper deep river crossings? 😎 😎
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.👊
I saw this in person a few weeks ago! Jason is kicking ass! Cant wait to get camping this spring! Ive got spring fever!!!
Oh Jason… Maybe this year? 😎
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.👊
This year!!! Not next year
If I know Jason… His ultimate goal is to take this bus to semi in its PRIME… to show the world all the capabilities Westy Restorations out of Salt Lake City!!! I like his logo more than anything.

Here are some more updates
Raptoliner is complete, now I am making templates for the bed/ bench. Ordered front seat covers and fabric for the bench from Sewfine. They are out 12-15 weeks. I guess it will be cardboard for a seat.
Started on the safari windows I got and decided they need more work than expected. Talked to Franz and I’m going to bring them to Moab and get them worked on at KCW. I think they are originals but somebody fucked them up working on them.
Also Started cleaning up the dash and interior original paint. The passenger by the headlight is original and drivers is polished. Hard to tell but it cleaned up amazingly.
Also the GoWesty baywindow bumper and swing arms showed up. They fit really well and might need little to no modification. Can’t want to see these finished.
I don’t have to worry about crunching corners, this thing is beefy!
Starting to rebuild steering box, hope everything looks okay.
Beefy rear set up… heavy…
Always love progress!

What are you gong to do to support the extra weight back there? That’s a lot in hope in those stock bumper mounts.
We will build it if it comes.

What Pat said. Weld up those bumper mounts by boxing them in. Box the frame too. Like JJ, I’ve been towing with my bus the last few years. Repaired about five cracks in the frame. I just boxed in my frame last week. After my clutch cable repair, I noticed another from my last trip.
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
Heavy yes, it is definitely a concern of mine. I planned on boxing the frame in and extending it to where the wires come out of the frame. It will be bolted in along the frame similar to a GoWesty on a vanagon. I plan to cut the body for custom beefy bumper brackets so they go straight in like a baywindow. They will be very long and probably 2×3 square tube. I will probably run them to the bend in the frame to help dispense weight
I have eliminated the ladder (that was also going to run wires to the roof) on the outside since the swing arm has a ladder you can add. I think I will run wires up the intake now to the roof rack.
