    Working now.

    Hi everybody.

Thought I should properly reintroduce myself and give a little history as to how I’m going to be lucky enough to be back working at KCW.

Started lurking on KCW forums back around 04′. Moved to GJ from Jax FL in 10′, right around the time Corey form Jax. and Pigpen were working here. I immediately asked JJ if he needed a shop bitch, was laughed at, so I went and bought them all a 6er of their favorite beer.

Bought parts and popped in occasionally over the next couple years. Kept on lurking on the forums. Piggy decided to part ways with KCW which coincided with my maximum frustration level at my shitty corporate job…..

My junk…65′ daily for the last 19+ years…..DOIN’ WORK!!!

    IMG_0194

…..JJ decides to hire this huge harry wookie named Al that had broke down at the shop on his way to Cali, to fill the void in the dirty that Piggy was leaving. This was motivating.

So I started showing up 3 or so evenings every week and on the weekends with beer wanting to learn some skills which I had none of. After doing this a few months JJ said he wasn’t getting shit done on his personal stuff, Royal Mail bus, because I was getting him sauced up all the time. I agreed to quit if he’d learn me some skills…. So my apprentice ship began…..

56″ wheelie based buggy I pick up for parts a couple months back.

    IMG_0615

…..After a few months I was offered a part time job, a couple months after that full time. My last day in corporate hell was 4/20/2016. THAT was a great day to end a corporate job on.

Over the next three years I worked my ass off and absorbed as much information as I could from John, Franz, Pat Peet and Wookie. Then I unsteadied the foundation of the bridge I had built with John.

Moved to Denver. Spent the last year and a half working on race cars and dreaming about how great my days at KCW were….

Buggy beam. Adjusters in spindles rebuilt.

    IMG_0707IMG_0700

…..Started popping back in to KCW last November over Thanksgiving. Hung out for a week, helped with metal work on Paul’s single. Felt good to do some dirty shoppin’ again. Stopped by to do some work on a beam for my daily driver in Dec I think it was. Had a few good conversations with Jones and started having hopes I could come back to work here.

I knew JJ was about to take a nice long road trip, SST, and would have time to think. So I popped in the day he was leaving and asked if I may please come back to the best job I ever had. The next two weeks were looooooooong…..

Snuck my beam and parts into work for a blast session a couple weeks ago. Have everything painted mostly assembled.

    IMG_1067IMG_0994

…… Got a call last Friday with good news.

See you Monday morning the 26th boss.

Stay tuned for more pics of my junk…?

We will build it if it comes.

Looking forward to seeing your smiling face around the shop again. Hope you can take some of the pressure off John so he can do more relaxing and less stressing.

Don’t you mean ’14. You were working there when I was up there working with HSS.

I’m excited to have Pat Kendall back in the dirty shop..  He is a VERY hard worker… I have to ask him to NOT work so many hours..8-)

I have decided to just keep doing what I have been doing…  KCW wise…  My goal is for Kendall to pretty much replace me as a worker in the dirty shop….   I am going to continue helping, but much less… I want to concentrate on my physical therapy after shoulder surgery….

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

Can’t wait to see the beetle. What tires did you decide on? The offroad club is going to be in full effect this summer.
