Looks amazing! You’ll be able to take that bus anywhere now.John JonesKeymasterFebruary 22, 2019 at 8:15 amPost count: 7114
DAMN!! I think it’s higher than WILLS!!! I need to crank mine up now!!!!!! 😎WillyModeratorFebruary 25, 2019 at 2:30 pmPost count: 1212
Its tall! I’d love to see them side to side. How did you solve the shit rod clearance issue?
Also, I’m almost positive you could do bigger than a 215/75/15 when you crank up the suspension, because the 215/75s fit on stock height busses without any rubbing issues… If you wanted to make it even scarier 😉John JonesKeymasterFebruary 27, 2019 at 10:10 amPost count: 7114
I hope to see some pics of Wren out on some back roads this summer!!!!!! and hopefully doing some camping with us!!!! 😎
I haven’t spent much time in Gunnison… Lets go crash at wrens place!!!WrenParticipantFebruary 28, 2019 at 7:51 amPost count: 169
You are always welcome John! I try and get Franz and Melissa to come up every summer but they are to cool for me. Think you would like Crested Butte but we should do a blue mesa trip for sure. Spend a bunch of time in the summer backpacking but now with this child, I think car camping is going to be the thing. Going to be a great summer.Douglas E FreshParticipantFebruary 28, 2019 at 8:27 amPost count: 148
I always thought a late October/early November camping trip at blue mesa during salmon snagging season would be cool. Fresh smoked salmon next to the lake….yum.John JonesKeymasterFebruary 28, 2019 at 10:44 amPost count: 7114RustabusParticipantFebruary 28, 2019 at 9:30 pmPost count: 2002

Hey if Dougs at KCW can you guys get him to cut and put in the small section of headliner above the hatch for me. He did not have a pattern for me at the time I got them. It would take him like 10 minutes. the piece is in the back of the bus. I asked him last time I was at the shop but then he started talking about the grey aliens or something.FranzKeymasterMarch 12, 2019 at 11:16 amPost count: 3802
Yeah dude. Trying to get your rig back in later this week to finish.FranzKeymasterMarch 19, 2019 at 11:51 amPost count: 3802
Because the beam had an extended shock tower, the fully extended length of the shock is 18 1/2″. I found a 67 chevy 1/2 ton truck rear shock that fits. But had to make 1/2 to 12mm bushings.
Tie rods were knocking in the center, slightly clearanced now.
The accelerator pivot pin is about to break off. I’ll fix that too.John JonesKeymasterMarch 20, 2019 at 9:16 amPost count: 7114
I think Franz has you about done mechanically and then we will fix them area’s you were concerned about… Maybe if we take your roof rack off it will fit in the dirty shop???? 😎 😎FranzKeymasterMarch 20, 2019 at 9:51 amPost count: 3802
Tons of little things yesterday. I welded the accl pivot, broken clutch tube mount, lowered ride height, greased the front end, Installed l/p caps and brake hose holders. Brakes are bleed, e-brake works, everything is awesome. Had some issues with the shift rod alignment. Working perfectly now.
Going over the engine this morning. Head torque and valve adjustment.
Clearanced the edge of the jack point for tire clearance.
I think the 3″ narrowed beam is going to be awesome in this. Better for tire clearance for sure. Its a caster version shocktower too (the lower tube is moved forward 1/2″). It should drive nice/strait and have better small bump sensitivity.WrenParticipantMarch 20, 2019 at 10:48 amPost count: 169
Looking good Franz! My big question is if the Craigs list Transmission works right ?FranzKeymasterMarch 20, 2019 at 5:40 pmPost count: 3802
The transaxle is awesome. Went through all the gears great. Suspension was nice, handling was good, brakes kicked ass…
…but the engine is done. Pretty sure it spun a main bearing on the test drive. Have to see how bad it is tomorrow. Probably trashed the case.cookiemonster131ParticipantMarch 20, 2019 at 5:45 pmPost count: 135

Well Sucks that engines gone but have been thinking this was going to happen for sometime. I’ve had that engine in two different buses. Let’s send the engine to Painters. I’m thinking of doing a basic 1915 like what it had or going up to a 2332. Is the 2332 worth the extra money? Other problem is i’ve been running 36 dellorto’s. Are they too small for a 2332? I’ve got a 55 stamped 36 hp. I had thought that would be cool cause it matches the bus but I guess it might be way to little power if I drive the bus all the time.FranzKeymasterMarch 21, 2019 at 11:37 amPost count: 3802
You can run the bigger engine on 36 dells….but I’d stick with the 1915cc. Its simple set-up. Big engines are nice though. Easily $2-3k more cost than a 1915cc. Plus, you have to do a bunch of tin/oil cooler mods.
Build the 36hp for fun. Side project. Not as a primary engine for your driver bus.
