    Wow! That looks great.

Whats up with the jig? Clamps the inner plate flat while you weld?

JiggyJ the madman! This been a long time coming….by far the most badass fab project to come out of JJJs to date! He built a welding fixture that could hold up a building haha

Franz. The spacers can go on both side of plate for left and right   Rails.   Plus cheaper to make jig from 1” steel  than 2”    I post heated the formed flanges to take stress out after welding.  Came out straight.

I was at the shop banging on a few small projects  while jrod was doing this last night, I think jarrod often flys under the radar and is more talented than anyone would ever guess, this piece is like art, fucking beautiful, and all from scratch….

Whatsup homies!?!? Good news……the split project is taking a back burner for a while now that I have 98% of welding fuckery dealt with. And what they means is HIGRADE is back up front!!!💪👍👌

both jrod and I both booked ALL next week off of real work to hammer down and Patrick Hall is headed up to lend a hand as well! Goal is to get the bus on the ground rolling….I need to drive the bitch this summer!!

Good!  I enjoy the updates from the marathon Triple J thrash sessions.  Not too get too far ahead of things, but is the Oval’s engine gonna get some attention after Highgrade?

Hell ya Pete! This is gonna get me over the hump!!

The poor old oval? I keep procrastinating bringing it home cause I’m still setting up my new shop at home….we have my buddy’s PGSG in there already and busy building shelving and benches before the 55 comes out of hiding. Priority is the bus (even though building just a motor is easier/cheaper) The car is a toy…..wanna camp with my kids this summer in the higrade! But don’t worry…..the ragtop will see the light again!

Jrod is shortening the manifolds for my IDAs to give a little more room

Got the Frankenstein 51 split out of the shop and stored, kombi got pushed in up front and centre! GAME ON!!

Jrod did too👍 Our friend Patrick Hall came up from Oregon as well to return some labour from his barndoor build last year…..crazy how much work can get accomplished with extra hands in the shop!

Parker gave me a bolt on IRS kit that came out of his 21. Patrick has had 20 years of experience with IRS conversions….was awesome to have him here for that expertise!!  We got a 4” beam sorted out, rear control arms notched for frame clearance and dimpled for shocks. Built a set of adjustable springplates out of some og bus cores. New shiftrod made from chromoly tube. Monster prep day and spray session of black imron. Shit came out great!! Johnny got some new shoes mounted up to the crowsfeet 165/60 front and 195/65 rear.

Beam is in and link pin shims all set. spindles on and my big disk brakes going on. Ended the day with hanging the IRS stuff and torquing yo the springplates👍 Just got a text that my new badass cylinder heads are well underway and flowing great numbers just roughed in! Shipped my shortened IDA manifolds to him to get ported this week. This bus is quickly becoming a reality!

Driver in no time. You always get carried away…is this thing getting a drag race engine? No low end torque? I see you had to make new adaptors for the discs.

No drag race engine….copy of johnnys barndoor stove. But I told him it was gonna be faster than his haha. w120 IDAs 9:1 40×35 heads that flow crazy numbers but at killer port velocity so gobs of torque! Ya it’s gonna rip but not a high strung beast by any means!! The manifolds were kinda a joke…..they needed welding so I asked for some extra meat to port the short radius….kinda got carried away haha looking like pro stock drag car  intakes!

the disk brake hats….ya there was a little booboo indexing the inner to outer bolt patterns when I had the steel hats machines lighter (they were tanks!) machinist friend had to re make and we swapped to Alum😊
