First roadtrip of season…. one of our buddies lent me his 57 single with a 2276 for the trek down to spokane Washington (almost into Idaho) for a party/campout. I got to hang with Parker for a night in Bellingham, rip up to meet Sled in Winthrop….we got drunk and fucked up a semiphore, oil change and valve adj on his 25hp 51 then had to fix all in morning hungover hahaha. Trip from there to final destination was a little slower but great none the less…got to drive my first 25 with full crash box for a few hours….it don’t get any simpler than that machine! Great bunch of people to party with and hammer back a keg of Franz fave PBR ?I did the 450mile trip home in one stint….8.5 hrs in a flatback bouncing down the road in a lowered bus is a haul! route 20 over the cascades is breathtaking….I highly recommend it?? I also highly recommend everyone having a badass tractor 2L!! This truck maintained 80mph for hours and hours!!?????????????
Think the summit was 5600 feet up, seasonal hiway just opened the morning I took it!FranzKeymasterMay 15, 2018 at 8:26 amPost count: 1628
Hell Yeah Josh. I thought Johnny’s barndoor was getting prepped for this trip too?JbParticipantMay 16, 2018 at 7:11 amPost count: 350
Yeah the BD and Johnny were geared up to roll with but a family emergency trumped VW’s….the way should be? He was super bummed but there always be more roadies!
honestly it was kinda nice rolling alone…was what my coconut needed….not trying to stick together, obsessed with the rear view mirror….just hammer down on the loud pedal.
I FUCKING LOVE OUR HOBBY!! some people don’t get how being folded up like a pretzel, pounding down the road for hours on end in a lowered bus is fun…no it’s not easy on the body but it’s the icing on cake, fruits of labour however u wanna slice it…the reward for all the shitty hard work restoring these old clunkers!! Puts a big ol smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel????FranzKeymasterMay 16, 2018 at 8:08 amPost count: 1628
Yep. I love driving my old junk.
100% self sufficient.
No car payment.

Totally man! Anything that happens on road is fixable (or jimmyriggable) try that in a new pos?!? The truck ran absolutely flawless! Not one hiccup? 1000 hard miles round trip…this Betty is dialed?John JonesKeymasterMay 16, 2018 at 8:49 amPost count: 3438
