Front end assy on Monday/Tuesday between parkway jobs. MoStoppinPowaBaby #discbrakes
Started on the rear end yesterday. Pulled spring plates and clocked torsion bars 4 clicks.
We will build it if it comes.
Scraped and washed the engine tin today. The pictures don’t do it justice but they look WAY better than before. They were all absolutely caked in grease.
Helped Dad install the transmission as well.Car is looking good… the 1776 is gonna start coming together now!!! Going to be a fun beetle!!

Knocked out the Z-bar rebuild yesterday. All new bushing throughout.
Riley helped a ton yesterday. Thanks for cleaning all that greasy tin!
Finished off trans install details this morning.
Working on window rubber and trim now.
We will build it if it comes.
Pat and Riley are doing body assembly this morning.
Heater boxes and stainless A1 exhaust are getting mocked-up, so that flanges can be welded. We’re doing a stock carb 1776cc Painter’s Grinding engine on this. Interested to see how it runs and drives with the Z-bar + lifted suspension.
Does the A1 header clear the spin-on filter? Last winter I took the spin-on filter off my son’s engine because I got tired of hacking up brand new exhausts to get them to clear 😂
No clearance problems on the oil filter. Fit cylinder tin. Flanged heater boxes and welded repairs on the tin.
I cleaned the heat riser tube with wire, and welded/hammered the heater box tin to tube gaps. Then painted everything high temp new ford grey.
Put clips in the door and quarter panels today. Then bolted all the fenders back in and replaced the fender beads. Bolted the running boards back on as well.
I welded on some heat riser attachments to the stainless tube. I know Gerhard will be driving in the snow to work ski patrol. Stacked tin and other parts. Ready for the fan shroud and carburetor tomorrow…I am hoping to get the 34 pict 3 carb to run nice on the 1776cc.
Heat risers are awesome in the winter!
Gerhards car is about done!!!! I think we might see him today👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
