Yeah!!! On to the DD!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I’ve had a ring gear bolt come loose from the differential that made a strange random clunk like that. Or a side gear/fulcum failure.
the posh telluride peeps dreaming of our day to day..
Found these broken teath on my pass side RDX gear. Nothing in the trans oil but many shards in this side oil.
I found a spare!
back to the manual…
Ya, unfortunately no magnetic plug in the reduction boxes. Those chunks would keep swimming! Good find
And now you know how to put it back together! 😀
thats right Jeff, thanks. Im glad its not the trans this time.
Damn! Big nut boxes are pain in the ass to work on. You probably will have to take the whole axle tube off to get at the freeze plug and nut that retain the stub axle.
Sometimes we weld a bolt or chain to the plug to pull it with a slide hammer, sometime we hammer a chisel through and destroy it. Have fun! 🙂
I haven’t had motivation to do much on my bus. Ive been spending the last week with my dog Hugo who passed yesterday. He was 10 years old and due to his poor hips, he tore is ACL which led him to his demise. He was a 140lb Malamute/chocolate lab mix. He loved our trips to KCW where he would lay by the desk on the cool concrete and mostly in the way of Franz and Pat. KCW was always welcoming to Hugo and he has spent many days/nights on the compound playing with Sammy and Sadie. He had a thing for Sadie which was obvious to all.
Digging through many photos I feel like Hugo had a life of monotony. Going on camping trip after camping trip in one of many buses I owned over the years I had him. A photo of Hugo by the old 66 standard walk thru, the 59 panel camper, the 62 WT standard, the 65 sundial, the 73DD, even in the front seat of the 69bug (I removed the front and rear seat for him). The Vanagon Audrey had. And many more I just can’t remember now. He was with me on many if not all the bus/vw extractions and hauls 0ver the last 10 years. He had fun sniffing around junk piles and open fields while I snooped around old vws.
You guys were awesome friends to Hugo and I appreciate the love you gave him. Thanks..
Great pics of Hugo, he had a good life for sure.
😥 RIP Hugo, what a great dog!
“Life is a waterfall,
We’re one in the river and one again after the fall”Sad to hear this.
Hugo was truly a gentle giant.
