Damn really!? Should not be leaking a drop. Maybe that rig needs a breather box? Usually when its coming from the front pulley its a sign of too much case pressure. I know we put a new seal there.

Ya! Type 4 motors suck because of all that tin and so far this thing is leaky. Has really nice power around 60mph though. Seems super happy when cruising and going over the passes.

Rusty, I think that’s why it was trying to break down so much in Moab haha it knew it was home. All it knows how to do in Moab is sit and wait. Haha

 

doesnt this motor already have a breather tube on top of the motor kind of? We connected a large bit of braided hose to the black box that is on top. A bit of oil was coming out of there too. But maybe we need to add another one coming out of the 1 and 2 cylinder side valve cover like on those race motors?

Yeah, put a Empi breather box on the firewall with the 1/2 valve cover vented.

Dual carbs is letting the beast breathe!

I think that is the issue. Where did you say you connected the braided smog hose from the case to?

The black breather box with the circle on it on top of the motor. So maybe add another empi one?

Get an Empi breather kit p.n. 8544 and mount it to the firewall tin at the back of the engine on the right side. Connect one hose from the breather on top of the engine to the front of the Empi box. Then connect a hose from the 1,2 side valve cover to the right side of the Empi box and that should do it. Where is that hose coming out of the breather going to now?
