That NEW NEW!!! WOOOOHOOOO! New heads, piston and cylinder kit, Push rod tubes and new gasket and seal kit. And hydraulic lifters! Pretty fancy.

Franz looked at the inside of the case and checked the end play and it looks pretty good!

Emilee washing the packing oil off of stuff, getting ready too stack the motor.

Torquing the heads! Franz also found us a 009 distributor that emilee and I cleaned up and “rebuilt”.

Getting the rocker arms together and installing the pushrod tube retention spring.

Franz showing us how its done setting up her empi 40 dual carbs! This thing is a ripper! Thanks Franz!!!

All together and ready to test the motor! Ill put a video together a bit later of all the little videos I have of it running and testing.

Carbs tuned in and timing done. Time to put the resurfaced flywheel and new clutch kit on.

Dont forget the new throwout bearing!

All in! Those type 4 motors are a lot harder to get in than the type one motor! Damn! ALot more tin and tin screws too… 😳 

Pedals felt a bit sticky…. she wanted to take a look…. Lots of moab left on that bus. and there will be more moab dirt in this bus for years to come… haha installed a new throttle cable and lubed up all the pedals, tightened the clutch and changed the transmission oil! Then we set it down and it started right up and she drove off! Ill post a video soon. Thanks again to Franz, Pat, JJ and gretchen for all the hospitality and help and fun times! SO awesome!!! Learned a lot with this one… hopefully it is good to go for a while to come! Cuz id rather work on type 1 motors…  😉 😉 😆 Also need to replace the oil cooler on this in the next couple weeks… for some reason it has a type 1 cooler on it. could’ve been part of the problem for the previous owner….

Here is the video! This thing RIPS!!! That cherry bomb straight pipe exhaust is LOUD. I told her we could get her some empi exhaust but she said “I want people to know I’m coming when I’m about to pass them!” hahaha so funny. She just needs some tires and a few other things like add to the interior and wax the outside and a couple other loose ends and then she will be ready to rock and roll! Thanks again guys! From Tony. Snow here in Utah the last couple days! Emilee is locating some tires and I ordered a new oil cooler! Should be set in the next few weeks! Need to clean the paint up too.

 

I also saw saw a video of Tony taking it for a spin around the block… I knew he couldn’t resist big girls hahaha

Got Emilees new oil cooler today! Gonna try to put it in next week because I’ve gotta make a run to Phoenix to pick up a trailer this weekend

Not really… I think emilee has made up some curtains but thats about it… We found her some tires that’ll work while she saves up for some Maxxis Bighorn Lt truck tires, those will go on next week. Ive got her engine seal and her oil cooler we just need to find the time to do it. School has been kicking both of our asses! I head to KCW next weekend, but I think the weekend after that we will be able to get this stuff done! She’s getting antsy and wants to camp in her bus! I don’t blame her haha I am antsy too.
