Cole and Emilee style date night. Install new window seals, eat greasy Mexican food. Living the DREAM! ❤️

Emilee has a big SOLO trip planned…. so I guess we’ve got to have this ready for that…. 🙄😬🥳😘 hahaha
4000 miles is a good first solo trip right?mtnbusParticipantSeptember 21, 2020 at 10:17 pmPost count: 1196
VW date night ! hahaha, thats the way to get shit done Emilee !
Wheres the solo trip taking you?emileeParticipantSeptember 21, 2020 at 10:51 pmPost count: 62
First Salt Lake to see Coles family, then Vegas to meet some friends to climb in red rock, the on to Big Pine in California to meet up with another friend to go climbing/trail running around the sierras!
No real time agenda since I have a hotspot and can work from my bus! Which is gonna be the way to do it for me I think. Especially if I have to fix anything, not feeling rushed so I can figure it out, AND do it right will be awesome. If Cole is still at KCW I might head over there so we can caravan his new beetle and my bus back home to WA!! Should be a good trip, I’ve definitely got some things to learn and some more tools and parts to get to be fully prepped, however I think it could be a fucking amazing trip!! Even if shit goes wrong, what’s the point of having a bus if you don’t use it. 😉

no real agenda !
thats the best part. And, solo !
I like taking the back roads. when you have the timealykatParticipantSeptember 22, 2020 at 6:47 amPost count: 490
Love your attitude Emilee. It’s a big country out there, and seeing it from the road is the best way to go. In a VW bus, even better.WillyModeratorSeptember 22, 2020 at 8:32 amPost count: 1178
So awesome Emilee! I can’t wait to follow along and see how this goes for you! I’ve worked from a few campsites recently and can’t stop thinking about doing it full time. Making any upgrades other than windows before you go? Inverter or other outlets?emileeParticipantSeptember 23, 2020 at 9:17 amPost count: 62
I’ve got an inverter, I think that should be good for this trip since I’ll have access to power when I’m with my friends.
As of right now I’m just waiting on the tin to get back from powder coating! Then I think we’re gonna install a couple gauges (head temp and oil temp) so I can be sure I’m not gonna burn anything up.

AWESOME!!!!! I wanna go… 😎 But I get the feeling I may be Coles biggest supporter on the beetle project.. 😎ColeBModeratorSeptember 23, 2020 at 9:25 amPost count: 1750
Hopefully she can just come to KCW and help with the beetle at the end. Go camping one night with everyone. Then we can cruise home together! So I have a place to sleep on the way back to WA😁Pat KKeymasterSeptember 23, 2020 at 4:41 pmPost count: 1470
DAAAAAAAAMN Woman!!! Get it!!!
Hope to see you and Cole (if he has to come)…😘
We will build it if it comes.ColeBModeratorSeptember 27, 2020 at 9:37 pmPost count: 1750
I did some boring seals on her motor. Started wiring in some extra worry gauges. We also replaced this piece of headliner with some birch. Need to do a slider door panel next.
powder coating is supposed to be done any day this week…. then this thing is ready. Going to do a couple small local trips to read plugs. Then she’ll be ready to rockJohn JonesKeymasterSeptember 29, 2020 at 9:10 amPost count: 6901
she’s so lucky to have you Cole…. 😎 😎ColeBModeratorSeptember 29, 2020 at 9:57 amPost count: 1750
I’m lucky to have her! Haha cool lady that lets me work on cars all day and is into camping and driving her bus solo and working on it too. I’m lucky.
she’s going to have a great trip. Hopefully we can get this thing working well enough for her.emileeParticipantOctober 3, 2020 at 7:44 pmPost count: 62
It goes without saying, but I am extremely grateful for all the help and knowledge Cole gives me on the daily. It’s also really cool to have a community like you guys that are all super psyched on DRIVING your rigs and the support that I have going into a trip like this. KCW community really is the best, I’ll be sure to stop by on my way home ❤️
We got the (crappy type 4) tin back from the powder coaters yesterday and now it’s time to lace it all up! Cole is coaching me on everything that could go wrong and understanding how to diagnose problems.
I popped off the old door panels and will install the new ones tomorrow! Today we got the motor just about ready, but decided we wanted to add flaps back in for more air to the oil cooler. We’ll pick up those tomorrow from a friend and hopefully have this thing about done!

Been fun working on it with you. Hopefully it’ll give you some trouble free, fun miles! Road tripping in a bus is as good as it getsJohn JonesKeymasterOctober 4, 2020 at 10:13 amPost count: 6901
So excited for Emilee and her trip!!! You will have to update us on progress when you get service… 😎 😎ColeBModeratorOctober 5, 2020 at 12:33 amPost count: 1750
Got it back in. Type 4’s suck! Probably just because I don’t know them… kept doing stuff out of order. Ran it for like 30 sec. then noticed the 3/4 carb was overflowing. I’ll pull it in the morning and check the needle seat and bowl setting. Should be good to go after that!ColeBModeratorOctober 11, 2020 at 11:20 amPost count: 1750
My weekend fun🙄 drove this a bit this week to get some miles on it before she takes her trip. And the damn main seal went out! Dammit! So I pulled it yesterday fixed that and made a couple other tweaks. Got it back in last night, drove it a bit and parked it. Gotta go back in today and see if it sealed back up. Hopefully I’ll have this thing about wrapped. Then I can focus on my personal stuff haha
