EVs convert about 59%–62% of the electrical energy from the grid to power at the wheels. Conventional gasoline vehicles only convert about 17%–21% of the energy stored in gasoline to power at the wheels. With an old VW… probably less 😅
The electric motors are around 97% efficient at converting the energy into motion. The difference between the efficiency of the motor and the overall efficiency of an electric car is due to losses in charging and discharging the battery and converting AC to DC current and back again.
Thats why there is all this crazy battery management stuff. A good BMS will improve your efficiency…. let me find the lead time on these
Spoke with Michael yesterday. He recommended 5 bms satellites (2 in the front and 3 in the rear) and 1 bms controller. He said that they have them in stock.
The 7th cell in these modules is on the terminal connection so we will need to add a male spade connector.
What to do with this project????
Dan does want AC and power steering And he wants to make sure he can “bug” the builder for years going forward about service or problems….
