Just spoke with Michael. His recommendations we’re either using these. 6 of them in series would get you to the required voltage and fit nicely in the luggage space of the bug. Could fit 6 more in parallel to increase amperage and range https://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=4&products_id=534&osCsid=bd1957e69e626fcd923b72356d1c4a2d He also recommended these JH3 LG Chem Super Cells. 12 would be required to get to operating voltage, but he mentioned that he had just received another version of these modules (JHP) that have 2 already in parallel that they’ll be adding to the store soon after they finish their testing. (to me these look like they’d work better for a bus conversion) https://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=4&products_id=534&osCsid=bd1957e69e626fcd923b72356d1c4a2d He did warn that the large Tesla motor is hard to run in a bug due to the high current and voltage it needs and that it’s too much power. Here’s a good resource I found on their website. https://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=476 All of these batteries he has in stock and could deliver in 10 minutes. – Michael We talked about the Jehu mustang cells and he said that these are going to be torn apart modules with the wire bonds between the cells cut. Effectively you would be buying the cells and building your own modules/pack. Another note is that the EVWest modules come rewired with new BMS harnesses so that it’s easier to get things wired up to the BMS.

Sounds like good info!!!!  I’ve been trying to steer clear of this program… 😎

Do you like those model S cells Glenn? How many do we need? Let’s get something ordered.

Hey Franz the model S modules are great. You’d need 16 of them to run the tesla motor. Space for that may be a challenge which is why I recommended the one’s above.

Seems like we need some batteries to move forward with this…  gonna have to get creative hiding them

For what it’s worth the guy here in SC with the Tesla Beetle is using the LG Chems.

Sounds like the LG super cells are the way to go? And they are brand new.

Or we could solder a bunch of the mustang cells together…which I am not opposed to, but sounds like more work mounting. Probably would look cleaner when all done an hidden, because the size of the cells is smaller and I could probably stack them better.

Glenn, could you sweet-talk Michael into selling us some of those super cells??

Excited to finish suspension/brakes and set it on the ground.

Good question..  😎 😎 😎  I think the Tesla motor and trans is probably similar.. but you gotta add al them batteries to it too…8-) 😎

    Batteries ⚡⚡⚡

    LG Chem

    Height: 14.25 Inches
    Width: 8.00 Inches
    Length: 6.25 Inches

    https://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=4&products_id=481&osCsid=bd1957e69e626fcd923b72356d1c4a2d

12 modules will get you 360v, 32kWh (range), 400A, and weigh 456lbs (2 parallel of 6 modules in series)

    LG Chem Super Cell

    Length: 16.75 Inches
    Width: 5.0 Inches
    Height: 4.125 Inches

    https://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=4&products_id=534&osCsid=bd1957e69e626fcd923b72356d1c4a2d

12 modules will get you 306.6v, 19.2kWh (range),  500A, and weigh 240lbs (12 modules in series)

    Motor 💪💪💪

The motor that you have chosen needs 275-400 Volts, maximum 1150 Amps (I suspect a minimum of about 200-300A), 400kw!!, and weighs 290 lbs

The combo of more Volts and Amps equals more power. You can add more of the super cells in series to get more voltage and range.

See how many you can fit and let me know what you’d like to do and I will call up EVWest
