Dan… ELECTRIC or conventional mechanicals?? I will call EV west and get us a kit put together… but I want to here it from you… 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
We already figured this out. EV west is building a kit for us. I have been in contact via email.
Oh SICK! Tesla motor or forklift motor?
New hose, new tip, full tank of sand for the blaster, and a Volkswagen to clean up.
JJ is all pumped up. “I feel fucking great, this is awesome” as I shut the door on the blast booth.
Good to have the man back in his happy place.
We will build it if it comes.
Us dudes need to learn to take more breaks as we get older…I used to pull 12+ hour days without breaks but now I feel dead after 8 or 9. Hope John learns to work at a steadier pace.

I was told they are testing some new Samsung batteries. After they had a chance to try them out they would put our kit together. Dan wants to have the newest/best batteries currently available.

Just like I said. Tesla batteries are huge. They are testing some new batteries that we hope work for our application. They haven’t used Panasonic batteries yet.
We will build it if it comes.
Finished metal repair on the passenger side door bottom last night.
Stripped the drivers side door, hood, and front fenders down.
JJs been blasting. Front fenders and the hood left to go.
Looks like the drivers side front sunroof drain was clogged up for a looong time!
Body is cleeeeean as a whistle!!!
We will build it if it comes.
great job pat
I’ve been knocking out the blasting on this rig… All I lack is the bottom side of the front fenders… I ran out of sand yesterday…
Pats welding up pin holes in the shell and I will clean it up again… Body work is soooooo close!!
What color is this rig going?? Looked like it was Ruby Red maybe?

Pat, That is some serious metal magic there! Looking good. I see your questions about the bumper overrider supports. I am inclined to weld up the holes, but struggling on what to do for a bumper. I doubt the bumpers are going to help much in an accident so perhaps we can still put the overriders on, but without a overrider support. I recall seeing buses done this way. I will do some Internet searching to see what is out there. If anyone has a suggestion, let me know. Thrilled by the progress! John, I know you asked about color. You were instrumental on the selection of the 57 and were spot on with your suggestion. I was thinking a silver for the 65, your thoughts?
Still leaning towards silver Dan?
Pinholes sucks!!!! Knocking it our though! Ive done everything I can get to from this angle. Going to flip it tonight and finish up pinhole work.
Nose section bad the most show up.
We will build it if it comes.
Finished pinhole welding/grinding on the shell then rolled out to the blast booth and dusted it off.
Ready to start body work after we move cars around in the dirty shop.
We will build it if it comes.
Guys, the 65 is looking great! Sorry for the lack of posting, but work is kicking my butt these days. Good to see John put in some billable hours before he hit a full year. 🙂 Kidding aside, things are progressing quickly. I am sure things will slow down when we get to “electrification.”
As for the color, I am still leaning toward Silver, but could be convinced to look at other colors. For those wondering, the large tail lights have been on the car since my dad bought the car in the early eighties.
Franz, I have a co-worker whose friend races electric cars. I could put you in touch with him if you want to double check on what EV is putting together for the 65.
Crap, I need to get back to work. I will try to check in more often, I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.
Thursday night I started working on the pan. Finished dissecting the old remnants that were left. Fit both half’s and burned them in.
Moved onto IRS mounts after pans half’s. Bunch of fitting/trimming just to get the jig to bolt up.
Last night I whittled away at the frame horn until the mail I had a nice tight fit.
Top side burned in. We will flip the pan after I get the other one in and melt in the bottom sides.
We will build it if it comes.
