KIM
Test Pilot @ Submarine AirwaysWhat an awesome weekend thrashing out this racecar!!!! Damn KCW does it again 🤙🏼👏🏻🤩😎 it looks like a whole new car – seriously some of the people on the trailer have new cars and I didn’t realize it but everyone’s been asking us if this is the same car – cause it looks SICK 🔥🤩
And now the sour apple is CRANDON BOUND 🔥🔥🔥
Unbelievably quick turn around journey for that car. It looks outstanding. Lets go KCW, have a blast in Crandon!
Best 1164 has ever looked or driven! Fun project.. Thanks for allowing us to do our thing with your car…,
Car looks tight! KOH in January!!
Finally got around to cleaning this rig up. Pulled the seats and fire wall and power washed it inside and out, top to bottom.
Changed the oil and adjusted the valves after straightening out the dent in #4 cylinder exhaust pushrod tube.
Header passes directly under the pushrod tubes. On a hard landing it bumps into #4 exhaust pushrod tube.
Would be wise to change it out before the next race. We would also gain ground clearance with a header that’s has a collector higher up or offset to one side.
Shifter was the only issue this car had in Crandon. Adjusted it and got it a bit better. Felt like the main issue was the shift rod bushing.
Dug into it yesterday. Bushing was not installed correctly. Just on the rod not in the mount.
The rod was crusty as well. Cleaned it up and painted it . New bushing and clip in. Back together, all lubed and shifting smooth now.
Only race damage was the front bumper that snagged a fender at the start. Dug some china parts out of the KCW stash. All back together.
One more seat to clean, Dzus the fire wall back in, bolt the seats in and the Sour Apple is ready to go.
The California 300 is Oct 12-16 in Barstow. Let’s go racing Cory?
We will build it if it comes.
Awesome blossom!!!! Now your rig is ready for another race!!! And ready to go home when your ready for it.. 😎😎😎😎😎😎
Awesome indeed! Pat, you’re the man!
Want us to order an empi sidewinder while its here??
I’d still like to take your engine apart to make it run correctly. It needs higher compression….or a smaller cam and a Weber IDF.
Its a good collection of parts, I don’t think it would be that expensive to do.
Hi Franz,
What does the 1164 need to be competitive at KOH? Can you guys give me an estimate on hours and parts to address engine compression/cam and anything else you’d recommend before it’s next short track race?
About a week of labor to assemble + break-in $3500 plus parts. I’m hopeful that the cam and pistons/cylinders can be reused. A Mahle piston set is $500 if we need to do them. And cam/lifters are like $270
– Empi sideflow exhaust $300
– case oil squirter machine work $500
-head valve seat refresh + flycut cc $300
-bearings $100
-lightened flywheel $120
-strait cut timing gear set $90
-oil pump $50
-power pulley +sand seal $100
– oil $100
-90 amp alternator $200 is a good idea if you plan run a bunch of lights, coms, and navigation at the same time.
I heard a good class 11 motor cost about $13k. That was a year or so ago too…😎😎😎😎😎
thats one expensive 1600😜😜😜😜😜😜😜
That’s if you have to buy one of those new $2000 mag cases.
The case in Cory’s car looks to be a new case. Hopefully not too beat/overheated.
Lucky for Cory… He has most of what he needs!!! He needs some Franz tickling more than anything… 😎 😎 😎
KOH huh…. 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎
