They wouldn’t let me go on Shasta if I had a bay beam in my bus;) can’t miss out on Shasta! HahaWaynerParticipantApril 23, 2020 at 6:56 pmPost count: 136ColeBModeratorApril 23, 2020 at 8:34 pmPost count: 1558
I do too. Just don’t open your engine lid…;) haha I don’t know how strict they are. But ya, a few of them are really scared of bays…TyHParticipantApril 23, 2020 at 10:39 pmPost count: 18
I’d go with the Bay beam as well, you’ll get the lift at stock bay height. And honestly, the shasta boys won’t care. Build your bus how you want not how you think other people want it.ColeBModeratorApril 23, 2020 at 10:58 pmPost count: 1558
I’ll take the split parts. I don’t know how those bay parts work anyway.KleakeParticipantApril 24, 2020 at 8:05 amPost count: 668
If you put bay parts on your split bus ,is it a cross dresser bus 😎😎😎FranzKeymasterApril 24, 2020 at 8:07 amPost count: 3535
Link pin beam will adjust taller than a ball joint, stronger design, and the lower beam tube has about 1” more ground clearance.RustabusParticipantApril 24, 2020 at 8:11 amPost count: 1935
And if you install 72 tail lights your Bus will be WAY more Awesome!!!! 🙂Lone StarParticipantApril 24, 2020 at 8:43 amPost count: 162
Thanks for the laugh this morning..Rusty 😀TyHParticipantApril 24, 2020 at 9:39 amPost count: 18
Cole, after re-reading my comment, I’m going to apologize. I didn’t mean to come off in a dick like way, sorry dude. As far as the bay beam, I’ve had a few buddies over the years swap those in and love them. They were able to get the lift they needed for bigger tires without having to run adjusters as well as getting the later brakes (cheaper parts/slightly better stopping power) One guy even running the disc brakes with adapters. AS far as the lower tube sitting 1″ lower I can’t say, but I’ll take Franz’ word for it for sure. Anyways, good luck with the fix!John JonesKeymasterApril 26, 2020 at 11:55 amPost count: 6545
Yup… bay beam tube spacing is an inch or something bigger…. Just as type 1 link and ball tube spacing is different…
The bay beam makes sense on a lot of levels… But I simply don’t like putting them in split busses… kinda like I don’t like type 4’s either… Doesn’t mean a million other guys don’t already love it and run it… I choose not to.. 😎 To each his own!!! Baja’s I fell the same… I prefer link pin… period.. More arc of rotation.. I also prefer swing over irs.. but I know.. a wider irs car will handle better… 😎 😎
I’m glad you got it fixed Cole… I am sure it will ve fine now that you welded it… and there’s now no load being beared by that center grub screw. 😎
Man I am itching for another road trip!!!ColeBModeratorApril 27, 2020 at 12:08 pmPost count: 1558
TyH! No worries. Didn’t take it that way.
I hope the welds will do fine. Still a bit worried about it. But hasn’t moved on me yet! I’ll just need to keep testing:) 😎ColeBModeratorMay 11, 2020 at 8:50 amPost count: 1558
Ya…. I got stucker than fuck on Saturday night! Emilee and I were climbing at the Price Canyon Rec area. We decided to camp up by soldier summit since it was on the way home. We got up on the ridge and everything was easy peasy and dry. Then we hit some really muddy and snowy early season stuff. Up at about 9000 ft. I got sucked into the ditch on one side of the road. I could go up and down for a ways but so matter how hard I turned I couldn’t get out. Tried to dig a channel for my tires to use but no luck. No one passed us for 4 hrs. So luckily I had a bit of advice and made a distress call to KB haha you know I’m already getting a lot of shit for this;) haha! He came up and towed me straight sideways and off the toad. Luckily we were only about 1.5 hrs from his place. I already ordered traction boards and a come along for whatever comes next haha. Glad Emilee was there. She made me calm down when I was pissed off. All in all a good fun adventure. I think KB was psyched to get in on the recovery too.
We didn’t seen anybody that whole day and night up there. We saw someone pass up the next morning at about 830 when we camped. Wouldn’t been a long night if I hadn’t had service… so lucky us.
here is some other pics from before and after the recovery.RustabusParticipantMay 11, 2020 at 9:07 amPost count: 1935
