Out to Leavenworth, WA again. Good place with little cell service and good climbing. Also, got a pup! Going to be a good first weekend of camping out with him. Have to get him acclimated to the loud bus and camping because there will be a lot more of that to come!

Good looking pup! Good genetics for a smart and reliable dog.

That’s the beginning of family life if you didn’t know…

Great few days out in Leavenworth, WA. Great weather! Bus ran like a top. Was like a ghost town. Nice for us, we had all the climbing to ourselves! Pup did great too. He’s a bit stressed in the bus, which I expected. It’s loud in there! He’s getting used to it though. Can’t wait for more camping this year. No better feeling than driving your bus wherever you want! 4976D67D-2E06-4278-A055-C860345020825BC0E123-C401-4B3D-BC3A-F1ED33DEE4C830AD44D5-B5E7-42A4-BB33-7404BB99741ED156A6D6-ED27-476B-ABEF-2BB65B81308D2F73D91C-064D-4219-A863-E130D11AED649DDB1121-6219-47C2-937A-3EA2D1CC5DE6BA683848-1C11-47B0-A025-39C2311EB0D5E4DBCE04-812F-49A5-A07D-971AFCE4641C1ED99CAA-D595-4C7F-BD08-B697142244DA7A0AAFF8-1A59-41E4-9E02-739B95B6AEB1D01C5186-3F46-4D9F-8B07-EC2DA7A0EECE

I have been climbing in Leavenworth for MANY years.  I’m mainly a sport climber but I ‘cut my teeth’ bouldering.  I live two hours north of Leavenworth in one of Washington’s secret climbing paradises.  higher quality bouldering than Leavenworth, but don’t expect to find a guidebook or many locals willing to share info 😀 My good buddy Dave put up both those boulders above, he now lives where I do and is continuing to put up world class double digit problems.   You follow me on IG by the way, I’m @sledvw

hows the Spokane area treating you?

That is what I figured. Good to connect here as well. Dave Thompson?? Cool, Id be keen to check out new boulders. Ive heard of a place across the border in Canada that I may try to go check out this summer(if this virus doesn’t mess that up).

Spokane has been good! Learning a lot, loving the weather. But I do miss the desert, camping and climbing in Utah. I need to do more exploring in my bus this year.

Going to head to Utah to be closer to family during these crazy times!  Tried to get to Boise tonight but got stopped just after McCall. Place called Donnelly. My wiper motor stopped working and it was snowing so much that the rainx didn’t do anything… turned back and stopped at a motel in town that’s letting us camp in the parking lot for free. Super nice of them. Road should be clear in the morning and we will head to SLC.

I had a snow trip like that once back in ’93, ’94. Crossed Vale Pass and the Eisenhower pass/Tunnel with my ’67 13 window in a severe blizzard. Wipers were working, but there was so much snow, I was down to a little cat eye patch of windshield to see out of. Defrost just kept up enough to give me roughly, a dollar sized notch to see out of. I would stop every once in a while to clear the snow. Seemed like every mile. Worst part wasn’t the snow though, that came later descending into Georgetown, the freeway was a patch of ice all the way. Had to just roll in second gear, keep a ten car space, and hope everyone in front of me quit hitting the brakes. Had several people spin out in front of me. Luckily no one got banged up, and I made it into Denver nearly frozen alive, but accident free 1st of Jan ’94.

Best part was, I had no chains, was lowered, but chugged up both passes, while most people were chaining up.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

But made it to Boise and the weather cleared up. I’ll have to try and figure out my wiper motor… don’t know what would’ve given up…6495343B-1A04-4216-B4D1-1FDB68BD2816made it back to KB’s!
