Got a bed made! Pretty happy with it. And did 300 miles in the bus today👍🏼 Happy bus. Psyched to get out of town! Just a few more daysFranzKeymasterJanuary 20, 2020 at 8:00 amPost count: 3473
Busy weekend! I bet the bus is running the best it ever has?
Did the deceleration pop go away?ColeBModeratorJanuary 20, 2020 at 8:06 amPost count: 1535
Ya, lots more power! Deceleration pop, bog when you hit it hard, and the backfires all went away! Pretty happy. I even got to test the reserve lever on the drive yesterday haha. Never run out of gas in anything before.
I’ll get wood panels for the rest of the interior when I get back. Don’t want to start into another rabbit hole this close to the tripFranzKeymasterJanuary 20, 2020 at 8:36 amPost count: 3473
Shoot, you still have a entire week.John JonesKeymasterJanuary 20, 2020 at 3:35 pmPost count: 6463
Awesome man!!!!! I think them heads were from a bad batch or something… So stocked for ya!!!!! It wasn’t that long ago you pulled your first engine out of a bus.. I think the BBOE… and now… Your building your OWN shit!!!!!!!!!! 😎 Glad you got that bed sorted out… I bet it’s a little more quiet and will be good for road tripping!!! Not long now…. Spencer Hot Springs! I just got home and am already looking forward to it!!!!ColeBModeratorJanuary 20, 2020 at 10:23 pmPost count: 1535
Ya crazy…. I pulled that BBOE engine like 2 yrs ago. Been lucky to learn a lot from good friends/mentors since! Lots of miles in buses and loving every second of it! I haven’t been able to sleep for like a week! So excited for this trip. Spencer in just a couple days. Never been. Should be great!
the bed is so comfy! And yes, the bus is a lot quieter and warmer. Going to be great for road trips
Even got a CB installed today. Don’t love how I ran the antenna cord… but I don’t want to drill any holes. So I don’t know what the best way is. I ended up running it through one of the cargo vents and then ran it along the roofline inside the bus and then dropped it to the parcel tray… had to use a couple squares of tape… oh well. Maybe I’ll think of a better way soon.John JonesKeymasterJanuary 21, 2020 at 8:15 amPost count: 6463
SWEET!!!!! CB’s are the bomb on road trips!WillyModeratorJanuary 21, 2020 at 9:12 amPost count: 1065
Been watching your progress on Instagram, looks like you’ve just about got it dialed in!! I need to find a Shasta bus…ColeBModeratorJanuary 21, 2020 at 9:25 amPost count: 1535
Pretty much there! Just gotta pack my shit. Figure how everything will fit around the new bed/cabinet set up. Pretty happy how it’s been goingWillyModeratorJanuary 21, 2020 at 10:52 amPost count: 1065
I’m trying to make a push for us to switch to HAM. A lot more powerful and cost is pretty much the same!John JonesKeymasterJanuary 21, 2020 at 12:25 pmPost count: 6463
this damn thread… I keep clicking on the last post… and getting nothing!!!!
maybe it’s something weird with your thread..ColeBModeratorJanuary 21, 2020 at 1:16 pmPost count: 1535
Ya I’ve had that on a few threads… I just click the second to last page if that is happening and then it all shows up. It’s like the site gets ahead of itself when creating a new pageColeBModeratorMarch 18, 2020 at 12:52 amPost count: 1535
Well, finally got my bus up on the rack. Didn’t see any cracks in my frame luckily. But something is going on with my driver front side… broken leaf spring in my beam probably? Saggy by a bit…. anyway. I’m going camping tomorrow, so no time for that. But I did grease my beam/spindles and re packed my bearings. Definitely had some water come out of my beam when I pumped new grease in there… haha and my drivers bearings had some water in there. But all in all not too bad…
now it’s time to go self quarantine! C ya later crazy world. Nothing that climbing and camping and buses can’t fix!
