2D2636CF-B46B-40FD-A729-AE86744BC1B0For some reason the new oil cooler type 4 adapter from AA performance didn’t come with long enough studs… so I made some from generator screws. 3AE81236-65E7-444E-A789-3F070079E527Close up of the new oil cooler and the new exhaust 👍🏼6E8A1A73-0102-4A84-8728-73467CA3AF77AE9BDE6C-1A7A-405C-95EA-3D77E1F95EB0Fan shroud fit perfectly👌🏻 Just had to smash the sides in a bit to fit the new dual carbs D82591C0-D87F-4D83-A8F4-9365FA541687thanks Franz for the help with fitting and adjusting the carbs! Fired it up and this thing sounds mean! Excited to drive it with the new carbs5BE6E97F-A322-41CD-833E-2AD39B23AB77B18EEBF2-9C1A-427F-8879-2C48A4F41D87got the new Bilstein shocks on front and back. I don’t know how hard to torque these? I couldn’t come up with a conclusive answer on the samba. Half said 25ft lbs which sounds low and others just said good and tight. RACE YELLOW FOR SPEED AND AGILITY. Another fun day at KCW! Love getting stuff done here!

One of my shocks developed a little squeak after 1400 miles or so, cranked on it more and it went away, so I’d get it tight.

Cole’s spindle bushing seized on test drive yesterday.

We have the whole front suspension apart right now. Decided to check for cracked torsion springs too.

Cole kicked ass for the last few days around here. But today I think it went a bit the other way.

I could hear the frustration in his voice as he and Franz were pulling his motor back out this afternoon. 😢😭😫😤

We will build it if it comes.

Ya… this weekend/week has been a roller coaster! Super psyched on the new parts I got for my motor and the aweosme time at KCW! Learned a lot this weekend. Got a lot of practice taking my motor out…. haha Motor was running rough last night when I installed it in the bus, so we pulled carbs and manifolds and ground the manifolds to get a better seal and fully went through the carbs with a fine tooth comb. It sounded better, but still not aweosme so we ran compression and a couple of the cylinders were really low… not looking good. we went to drive it anyway and then the steering locked up and we turned right back around and were up LATE last night pulling the front end basically completely apart. Got that all back together this morning and it was looking good!  Franz and I drove it again this afternoon and the motor was still not right. Basically felt like it was almost running on 3 cylinders. Still bogging a bit and running hot. So we made the call to pull the engine again and check/replace the top end. We got it off and there was a lot of corrosion and big scratches in the cylinders. No bueno. Franz inspected inside the motor more and it was similar on the bottom end. Lots of wear. I still need to decide 100% tomorrow when I get some sleep but I think I am going to end up having to send out for a new motor. Will likely send these heads and case off to painters…. slightly bigger cam, new bottom/top end and re machine the heads to re use. Going to talk with Franz tomorrow and come up with a plan. Learned a lot! Super fun! I love VW’s. Glad it happened at the best shop on earth, or else I’d be SOL. Thanks for the great weekend guys and Gretchen! FFD5105C-5109-4BB9-9FAA-3ECEDBECA25B56D2C60A-CF33-439F-AF86-9FD2478275DFD4A5A136-4BCB-41D4-B748-7D04599376829D35E3BD-5261-4A76-8804-C68646B9DB93New 15 gal tank too! That’s a hell of a week for sure. You should be 100% sorted by the time your bus is ready to leave though.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

Stuff gets done at KCW! So when I’m there I have to keep up and hit it hard. It is fun pushing hard to get stuff done. Thanks again for letting me hang around and Franz for all the help👍🏼 Moab is going to be fun!

That sucked. I wasn’t expecting the engine to be bad. Let me know if I need to pallet-ize this core.
