I think that’s a good plan. Maybe raise your ass end up too. This big butch needs as much room as it can getWillyModeratorMay 22, 2019 at 1:33 pmPost count: 974
Those things look so sturdy I think you could slam it and it would hurt whatever you smack it into more than it would damage the coolerColeBModeratorMay 22, 2019 at 6:42 pmPost count: 1392
Well…. I’m back. Time for my 1000 mile service on the new engine. I put 960 miles on my bus since last Monday. So I dropped oil, adjusted points, valves, timing. And cleaned my engine bay out… lots of dust from this weekend👍🏼 Oh ya. And added 9 new quarts of oil. Still in shock by how much it takes. Should be a happy bus for adventures this weekend.Pat KKeymasterMay 24, 2019 at 7:36 amPost count: 1175
Franz is working on his Quart9 sump this morning.
We will build it if it comes.Pat KKeymasterMay 24, 2019 at 7:50 amPost count: 1175
Cole’s trying to solve a small popping on deceleration, jets didn’t help. Time for a carb rebuild.
We will build it if it comes.BBWBParticipantMay 25, 2019 at 4:45 pmPost count: 737
Very VW looking grooves. Nice touch Franz.

Thanks JJ! Been a lot of fun logging lots of miles the last couple weeks! All is well. I had a GREAT week/weekend and I had a good drive back home yesterday. Decided to go through Durango and up to naturita and then gateway and drop down into junction that way. Not as pretty as red mountain pass, but still a beautiful part of Colorado.mtnbusParticipantMay 27, 2019 at 6:49 pmPost count: 918
Great to see ya cole !
did you happen to notice the boulders I was talking about south of whitewater ?ColeBModeratorMay 28, 2019 at 8:59 amPost count: 1392
Ya! They looked cool. Looks like they have some routes already around there. I need to see if anyone I know has climbed on them before 👍🏼 Enjoy the bookFranzKeymasterMay 28, 2019 at 7:55 pmPost count: 3114
I ordered some fancy thermal conductive silicone. Thinking the sump can be directly glued to the case…no paper gasket.RustabusParticipantMay 28, 2019 at 8:28 pmPost count: 1776
Glad you didn’t go the Telluride way home!!! This is the little pebble that fell from the cliff outside of Dolores and helped to destroy the road!!!!! 😬ColeBModeratorMay 29, 2019 at 8:36 amPost count: 1392
Good thing I didn’t! Damn that’s big. No wonder the highway was closed… hahaFranzKeymasterJune 16, 2019 at 6:17 pmPost count: 3114
^^The department of transportation decided to build the road around the rock and name it memorial monument because it came tumbling down on Memorial Day.
I found some time to weld on our sump-cooler project today. Getting in the groove and flowing aluminum is fun.
They have almost 15 feet of 7/8 x .120 aluminum tubing in each one. Two of the tubes are directly of top to the oil pick-up screen.John JonesKeymasterJune 17, 2019 at 8:19 amPost count: 5923
Right on…. Maybe this will keep me from having to run a cooler…. 😎
Right on!ColeBModeratorDecember 19, 2019 at 9:36 pmPost count: 1392
Pulled my carbs off today. My bus ran great all fall. Cool as a cucumber with the new QUART9 sump. But then it started bogging badly and won’t start for shit and is backfiring a lot… so I don’t know what’s up. Gonna start at the carbs…. don’t really know what’s up. Adjusted valves/points/timed and checked for exhaust/intake leaks. All seems normal… weird.
