I wish all motors were as easy to pull out and in as no rear bumper barndoors…..WillyModeratorJuly 22, 2020 at 4:34 pmPost count: 1238
Pretty nice having all that room to work in there too!ColeBModeratorAugust 26, 2020 at 11:53 amPost count: 1982
Back in Spokane. Tearing a motor and trans out of a speedster. Luckily it’s getting a new motor and trans in. The car wouldn’t drive. Started right up, but no response or noise from the trans. Thought it had maybe stripped the splines on an axle or something… but after pulling the drain plug, I think I know what happened… haha that’s the spider gear shaft pin…. I bet the diff blew up. Going to be some fun pictures once I tear the gearbox down more! Haha if you look close I bet you could see a part number;)John JonesKeymasterAugust 26, 2020 at 5:01 pmPost count: 7344
all the fun you get to have!!!! 😎FranzKeymasterAugust 27, 2020 at 9:32 amPost count: 3914
Crunchy! Are you going to be able to save the ring and pinion?ColeBModeratorAugust 27, 2020 at 9:39 amPost count: 1982
It will go in the core bank. It’s a 6 bolt ring gear. we will upgrade it to the stronger 12 boltColeBModeratorSeptember 24, 2020 at 1:30 pmPost count: 1982
Time to tin up the 2 liter twin plug. Checking and Bolting on these fresh 44’s. Going to make this motor scream!FranzKeymasterSeptember 25, 2020 at 8:04 amPost count: 3914
Looking good Cole and Jack. Let’s see the twin plug mods.ColeBModeratorSeptember 25, 2020 at 5:01 pmPost count: 1982
Here is a shot of the underside of the heads. Small plugs underneath. One spark plug on each side of the dome of the pistons. So no fuel/air mixture can escape the spark!
we are doing a “black oxide” theme on this build since it is an early car. So trying to use a lot of black oxide and just black on stuff. Black oxide hardware, black air cleaners. I have the dual distributor housing out right now getting black anodized. Hopefully it will all look good.
Also, finally got brake bands for the transaxle that I’ve been waiting on for 3 weeks. That’ll be close to finished tonight.ColeBModeratorSeptember 28, 2020 at 8:23 pmPost count: 1982
Got the anodizing back. Looks sick!! Carbs on. Transaxle together. Just need to get the boots in tomorrow. Then I’ll finish the trans and install it back in the car! Getting closeColeBModeratorOctober 6, 2020 at 2:56 pmPost count: 1982ColeBModeratorOctober 6, 2020 at 10:21 pmPost count: 1982
Transaxle is just about ready as well! pretty dope. This speedster is getting a later 741 style gear box so we can run taller 3rd and 4th gears:)))) this thing will cruise 80 Easy in 3rd. 4th gear will do at least 115… don’t ask how I know… no way I know from experience… 😬😊😎ColeBModeratorOctober 7, 2020 at 10:16 pmPost count: 1982
Back on 4 wheels today and I just finished getting the motor in… psyched. I’ll finish wiring and the rest of install in the morning. Also got 5 Pirelli soft compound P6000’s in😎 I’ll take them to the tire shop tomorrow. Waiting on some shift linkage stuff and a camber regulater. Then it’s test time 😁ColeBModeratorOctober 21, 2020 at 8:33 pmPost count: 1982
Been putting miles on this thing…. running great! Have to baby it for probably 500 miles. So only 4k… it’ll be fine to 7k when it’s all broken in. Psyched how it’s turning out. Just small tweaks now. Tweaking carbs, horn isn’t working, need to do an alignment, need to cut up the front mat a bit to fit the new shifter. Stuff like that. Fun setup😎Pat KKeymasterOctober 22, 2020 at 5:30 amPost count: 1643
Does Emily know you drive this around?
Shoot…I’d be hitting on you if I saw you rollin’ this around looking all James Dean…😘
We will build it if it comes.
