I am starting this because I don’t want to start a thread on every single thing I touch. I’ll keep my bus and the BBOE separate because they already have good threads. But I do day to day stuff for KB that I want to share. So here ya go.
today I tuned and detailed the two Mac daddy’s. The Woods/Hornbecker whatever you want to call it 52 deluxe and the 51 standard “AB51”. They got invited out to Monterey next week by VW Germany for a couple events. They get picked up tomorrow. We are flying out, so we won’t have a rig to tow them around. So I wanted to make sure they were right before we had to drive them around California. Also this past weekend Mark Lapriore came out with one of his fancy super correct sunroof covers and fixed the 52’s sunroof. Some of you may have seen an old NOS cover that was fitted to that bus in a Tijuana Treasures article in an old VW mag. That cover became hard as a rock because people are pussies and are too afraid to drive or even open the damn sunroof. So we fixed that so the bus can be used as intended now. It’s a bus. Not a one off fancy Ferrari. Use them!

Pete, thanks for following along. The Smith got a new, more improved cover and it actually opens easy now. Also put on the OG Be-Ko-Wa sunroof rack. Which is like hens teeth. Super cool to see it back on after seeing it in all the og photos. Come out to Utah and you too can enjoy! Let’s go drive these! So fun
Did a gear oil change on the 52 deluxe today. I don’t know when the last time it would’ve been done since the last 3 owners never drove it. But good thing I did. The old oil came out more like honey than gear oil. Put some new oil in it and it’s all good to go.
Thanks to Franz for the info on the access hatch behind the rear seat that makes it easy to get to the filler hole. I would’ve been screwed trying to fill it back up otherwise! Haha
