We went through all of the boxes and haven’t come across any component sets…? JJ started on safari assy yesterday.

Safaris are incomplete? No complete sets of what?

    Component housings for the stereo.

    Sorry about that.

We will build it if it comes.

Do you have one of these or do I need to send mine? Tool to install tensioning bead/strip into the window rubber on the dormy top… 6AA85188-5216-4A30-8157-495660C68AFD

Please send it. We do not have one.

We will build it if it comes.

Should be two grey fiberglass enclosures with holes cut for a 6.5″ speaker and tweeter… Were those in there? I don’t think I had a set of speakers in the pile of parts.

So the wiper motor… I think that goes to a super or a type 3 or something with a HUGE windsheild.   I looked around to see if I had what you needed… I think I found EXACTLY what you need… 66 assembly… 6v, but one piece like a 67 assy.  Notice how the shafts angle out like the front wind screens… 😎  One of the shafts is frozen, but I think I could steal one off the wrong assy you have, if I can’t free it up.  I also think we have a 12v Volvo motor around here, which looks like the original style, but 12v.. 😎   Now, all this is going to probably cost more than a good used 67 assy…. or rebuilt from samba … So letting you decide before I spend a 1/2 on a wiper assy.   I’m not keen on spending money on wipers… cause they won’t work worth the fuck anyway…  😎  My favorite set up, has been a 6v unit with an adjustable voltage drop… That would probably be sweet on them ambulance fans too… 😎  if you want them to actually blow hard.  then you can run em at 8 volts, or whatever speed you like.. One of your wipers is pinched… probably break when I try to straighten it.. I bet I have some though… 😎  Thats whats great about building a car at KCW… I have TONS of extra everything!!  😎  but wipers can go on last… the wiper motor… I’m gonna want that before dash assy.  And that key… Can you get us something?  so I can wire it up?

I started on Safari’s yesterday… but… speaking of.. How about these tabs that are too close to the pinch weld to put a seal in?  Rookie safari install mistake right there… 😎  I see you have an extra set of tabs… Should I cut yours out, mock the windows up, redo, and repaint?

Progress is rolling along… I think we are going to tag team sand that top and try and get the outside painted today… L82 Silver white, 60% gloss!

Ok so looks like a year parts/nose issue. I’m thinking the nose clip that went in must have been a 65. My understanding is that 67 and almost all of 66 has that big motor like the one I sent with the bus. 65 was a one year only assembly where the mechanism is similar to 66/67 but it uses the older style motor.

I’m using my “Phone a friend” option on this one. Should have info and hopefully a parts solution shortly.

Wipers: If you have a good base, go for it. Or I’m sure I do here.

Ambo Fans: adjustable voltage drop sounds good to me for the fans.

Wiper Assembly: Got to the bottom of it… the assembly with the bus is some hodge-podge modified thing that was in the bus before the nose got replaced. What we need is a correct 66/67 bus assembly (which looks very similar). I’m working on finding one.

Steering Lock: can you shoot a picture of the one that was in the bus so I can see what is there/missing?

It didn’t come back to me with a key for it unfortunately. 🙁

Locksmith? Would love to have it match to the doors. Was there a key with the handles?

Sand blasted top parts for paint. Also hand sanded the bow mech with 180 grit.

I see we didn’t put up any pics of the paint….  It looks great….. The low gloss looks great.. It does not look like we spent toooo much time on it… it looks OG with some minor fiberglass imperfections in it… The only way to make it smooth and perfect is to put a gallon of poly on it and block it…. which makes shit heavy and takes more time.. this thing will be heavy enough.  I also am a firm believer in less material last longer…  anyway… Looks awesome.

That trim strip on the dollys in this pic… it will have to get cut to fit. Most of the original ribbed aluminum securing strips that hold tent to roof and tent to bus are gone. I found a set of baywindow era westy top strips which are the same profile and are long enough, they’ll just need cut to fit when you get to putting the tent on.
