Figured I would start a thread on here. I bought this thing towards the end of last year. ‘63 Kombi. Originally all white, the casino that bought it new painted the bottom half green when they put logos on it. They’re a lot stronger in person, than pictures, but will probably get touched up a little at some point. Super dry bus overall, other than outer rocker skins. Greg and Lind found this bus with 6 others in Idaho in 2004, one of them being a ‘56 Westy KCW did not too long ago.
So far I’ve just had the front seats redone with Matt Miller seat covers, but have lots of stuff planned for this year. Rear seats are perfect! Living 800 miles away from the bus temporarily doesn’t help things get done super fast.
The engine that came in it leaked like a sieve and had a mile of endplay. Pulled it out and found a real nice surprise. New one is in the works!
I went to NC for the weekend and worked on this a little! I picked up the new engine and got it installed with some help from the animals. Still need to get a couple things for the engine compartment to finish it up, but I ran out of time for this trip.
I need an air cleaner for a 1500 option bus. It would be the late 64-67 style, but the carb elbow goes to the left instead of the right. Anybody have a set up?
