Few pics from this morning.
Dissecting the front beam for the tubes and other important bits.
We will build it if it comes.Pat KKeymasterNovember 16, 2020 at 3:18 pmPost count: 1513
Finished dissection and moved onto degreasing.
Greasy bits cleaned up. Waiting on adjusters to arrive. Couple other little things to dial in before we can start going back together.
We will build it if it comes.buddyParticipantNovember 16, 2020 at 3:27 pmPost count: 34

Some finger paint on the deck lid repairs. We’ll cut and polish later.Pat KKeymasterNovember 17, 2020 at 9:52 amPost count: 1513
One more step on the beam done. Had to hog out the plates for the larger ends of the late beam tubes.
Working on pop out windows now. Removing the old rock hard crusty outer seals. Total pain in the butt. 3 down, 3 to go.
We will build it if it comes.FranzKeymasterNovember 18, 2020 at 12:10 amPost count: 3797
Interior paint season this afternoon-evening.
Epoxy sealer followed by l87 pearl white single stage urethane.. and a bunch of brush daubing in misc spots.Pat KKeymasterNovember 18, 2020 at 12:40 pmPost count: 1513
Window tear down done!!!
Finished removing old seals then started on busted hinge mount screws. Had to drill and tap 9 of these little suckers…☹️
Drill straight through the middle, then the tap pushes the old bits out when it goes just right.
Front drivers side pop out had been torn off at some point which tweaked the hinge mount area on the frame.
Little love here and there.
Moved onto front door window tear down next.
Vent wing pivot bits needed some extra persuasion before they would let loose.
We need to order parts for assembly this week.
We will build it if it comes.John JonesKeymasterNovember 18, 2020 at 2:02 pmPost count: 7082

Spindle tear down and degreasing done. Roller bearings, king & link pins all look great. Now spindle mods and flipping can be done.
Removed a couple stuck pins from the brake and clutch pedal arms. Rounding up parts that need blasting for the next black paint session.
We will build it if it comes.Pat KKeymasterNovember 20, 2020 at 9:07 amPost count: 1513
Modified spindles for flipping last night.
Spring plate mods done as well.
We will build it if it comes.FranzKeymasterNovember 20, 2020 at 5:24 pmPost count: 3797
Pat and I did a CRL scrub on most all of the bus today. Ready for polish and wax. White scotchbrite is like 1500 grit sandpaper. Removed all the moss and overspray with it. Been waiting weeks to clean it like this. 👍
Engine and transaxle arrived from Painter’s Grinding today too. Brand new 1914cc and a 3.88 beetle box.buddyParticipantNovember 20, 2020 at 5:42 pmPost count: 34
