Damn! You guys are flying through this one
Scott.. You getting excited???? 😎 Should only take 3 times the time to do the big gay bitch…. 😎 😎
For this rig…. Floors and welding done this week, then epoxy seal the whole bottom, then use single stage over the whole bottom in sealer color… Flip her back over, do all the outer skin work and blends, and over spray the wheel wells.. 😎VwfoolParticipantOctober 25, 2020 at 7:28 pmPost count: 312
I am excited to see my battleship get some love.
For now I am enjoying the show on this 13 window. Can’t wait to see it doneJohn JonesKeymasterOctober 26, 2020 at 7:48 amPost count: 7117
I think I will start tearing your front end down today… Franz is going to build you a 5″ narrowed, WITH needle bearings…. 😎 😎 It’s going to ride TOO GOOD!!!! 😎 😎 😎 He got you some Beef Cake adjusters too…. And them sick ass Brakes from wagen’s west like wayner has!
Pat worked on Coles rig last night. so I imagine he will work on your floor tonight..!!!! Painters called last friday and are getting your engine and trans together.. 😎John JonesKeymasterOctober 26, 2020 at 8:51 amPost count: 7117
The patient.. 😎 😎 Drug it in out of the snow!!! Time to tear it down… and clean it all up!!!John JonesKeymasterOctober 26, 2020 at 2:52 pmPost count: 7117
I got things all cleaned up and apart… Torsions looked awesome… everything did so far… must be low milage.. I would say those were original tie rid ends… 😎 I put the drum brakes out in the huge pile of drum brakes we have collected. 😎 😎 😎 Kinda like wheels…
This beam is a project…. I guess I should continue on with… I need to start cutting the beam apart and getting down to the beam tubes…. We want to retain the needle bearings, for the awesome ride they provide…. Narrow them suckers 5″ I think.. pretty sure… 😎 add adjusters and install them into a set of our Water Jet cut KCW Castor Beam Towers…. and probably Tig welded by master Franz… 😎 😎 😎 Maybe not all in that order. 😎 The castor beam towers are taller than stock… so you can usually still run a stock length shock. 😎 Thats the beam…
The lower arms will need to be narrowed also… a job, but good mod!!!! Spindles… Pressed apart and ground out for flipping checked out cleaned up, and reassembled in the Flipped position. Taper the tie rod ends… Narrow up your original tie rods and install new ends. Center pin… I think I would shorten it… May as well.. but not necessary… I think we should… 😎 I think all your link pins are going to be good.. which is awesome!!!John JonesKeymasterOctober 26, 2020 at 2:57 pmPost count: 7117
Next on the bus… Floor… which will happen tonight… and these two patches in in the back of the rear wheel wells…John JonesKeymasterOctober 27, 2020 at 7:22 amPost count: 7117
Floors are in!!! He’s welding down seat mounts now!!!! 😎 I’m about to get going on them two patches… 😎
Gonna be perfect to have this ready for assembly after this week…. 😎 Painted bottom by friday!!!! 😎Pat KKeymasterOctober 27, 2020 at 7:42 amPost count: 1517
Morning progress pics….like JJ said floors are in. Burning in seat mounts now….then 409 or so welds to grind…🎉🥳
We will build it if it comes.buddyParticipantOctober 27, 2020 at 10:36 amPost count: 36
Wow…a lot more work than we were led to believe by the seller. Will be solid now though…John JonesKeymasterOctober 27, 2020 at 12:59 pmPost count: 7117
This old girl needed a lot of love…. 😎 😎 😎 But she is still wearing 93% of her original paint…. 😎 😎 Here is a step by step on them rear patches, I am about to start grinding on the 409 welds…. 😎 it’s getting damn close to flipping it over time!!!! 😎 and it’s only Tuesday!!!! 😎 😎RustabusParticipantOctober 28, 2020 at 7:56 amPost count: 2002
That’s some clean metal work!!!! Can’t wait to see the blends! 😀😀😀FranzKeymasterOctober 28, 2020 at 8:43 amPost count: 3807
Sand blasting today? Should be warm enough in a couple hours.John JonesKeymasterOctober 28, 2020 at 9:04 amPost count: 7117
do we blast or don’t we??? No doubt in my mind paint will stick better and longer if we blast it…. But we gotta be real damn care full….. 😎 I don’t really want to get sand all up in it.. as it’s perfectly clean at the moment.. humm,,, buddy… your thoughts? blasting it will take no more and maybe less time than sanding… and better end product for sure.
Pat is knocking out the last few items.. Pop out hinge and latch plate…. were gonna weld them 6 holes in the deck lid too… tiny repairs.. Notice how careful he is being with your og paint.. hanging that welding blanket over it.. 😎
That floor came out fucking TIT’s!!!!! Nice work Pat…Every corner, every edge, sweet!!!
That flip over dolly… shit… maybe I should blast that thing off!! I have had that flip over dolly for 20 freaking years!! It has flipped over 100’s of busses!!!! 100’s…. 😎 Make me smile… and I know it’s been copied a ton!!! cause it is simple and works… 😎buddyParticipantOctober 28, 2020 at 10:43 amPost count: 36
Whatever you think. You are the expert!Pat KKeymasterOctober 28, 2020 at 1:33 pmPost count: 1517
Pics from last night/today… forward drivers side pop out latch mount repairs were first.
Same pop out but window hinge mount repairs.
Had to do some pin and slide hammer work to get the area back in shape, it was dented in pretty good……Welded up all the holes. Clamped a soaked cold rag to the outer skin to help keep heat away ….Left the the pins in place until I finished welding I case it decided to shrink back in, luckily it didn’t!
Gas pedal mount burned in.
Pushed the heat tube into its final location and burned it in.
Decklid holes gone…
Flipped her over niceNeasy.
Need to do some grinding and finish up the welding the I didn’t get to from the top side.
Front inner valance has a couple of spots that need a small patch.
We will also take a good look around to see what else needs attention like the pass rear bumper mount and the valance lip.
We will build it if it comes.
