How about a steering box raise? The 1” raise doesn’t require floor or steering shaft modification.buddyParticipantOctober 10, 2020 at 11:35 amPost count: 12
Same as the palm green sand green you guys did. Any lower and it will not get in my driveway…John JonesKeymasterOctober 11, 2020 at 8:43 amPost count: 6889
I’m thinking a steering box raise is in order then!! And it will be much easier to do without a floor in the way!!!!!!’
maybe I should dust off my welder, put some wire in it, fix the on off switch😀😀😀😀😀. Put some time in on this next week???😁😁😁😁😁😁😁.buddyParticipantOctober 11, 2020 at 7:35 pmPost count: 12

Are you sure? The 1″ raise doesn’t make a mess.
Going to do some patching and start fitting metal this morning.John JonesKeymasterOctober 12, 2020 at 10:50 amPost count: 6889
I like 😎 the raise..
I’m sure your last one was done… but if you run large enough tires, and you be care full driving it… I guess it would be ok…. I hit my box yesterday in my kombi, but I was on a dirt road close to our campground… I bet you don’t dirt road it much.. 😎 😎 😎
Franz is doing some shrinking on the stretched out long side… I am cleaning up all our old welders in the Dirty shop and May have to amp up production on this project…… 😎 😎 😎 Franz wants to get back to the European racing legend soon to be 912… 😎 😎FranzKeymasterOctober 12, 2020 at 8:36 pmPost count: 3698
Fixing dents while I have easy access to both sides of the metal. Lots of shrinking and hammer work on the bottom of the long panel. It’s near perfect now. 👌 I was also able to straiten the passenger wheel well and corner today.WillyModeratorOctober 13, 2020 at 12:26 amPost count: 1178

Yup…. fixed all the rusty spots along the edges of the dogleg lips at the floor, a pillars, and the inner valance.
Had to cut the pin to get the ebrake handle out. Heat and some love from the air hammer to get the remains out of the handle.
I was able to drill and tap the broken bolt out of the shifter mount. Front floor install is next up.
We will build it if it comes.FranzKeymasterOctober 13, 2020 at 3:06 pmPost count: 3698
1-1/8” steering box raise looking good. Welded 1/8” strap between the frame sections.

Nice to see it coming back together…certainly was enough taking apart! Good job…Pat KKeymasterOctober 15, 2020 at 1:02 pmPost count: 1460
Last nights progress…started by fabing a couple repair sections, one for the center section of the bulk head and one for the inner section of the pass side frame. There was no way to slip the front cargo floor support in place without sectioning it. Cut it in three places, slipped each of them in their spots and welded it back together and to the frame.
Front center section needed a small adjustment to the flanges to fit.
Front heat tube section needed a few repairs.
Slipped all the heat tube sections and the center section into place and welded them up.
Inner rockers and a small frame repair up next.
We will build it if it comes.Pat KKeymasterOctober 15, 2020 at 1:22 pmPost count: 1460
