All right… We’re almost there Buddy!
Shifter rod cup front edge had worn away, pops out going into R,2, & 3 Welded and ground it back to shape. Works great now!!
Adjusted the drag link to center the steering wheel, then fit and installed the pedal pan.
Driver side taillight housing was missing the screw terminal wire connector. I had no luck finding one around here. Had to compromise and use a later model spade terminal.
Rear turn signals were acting up. Tracked it down to a broken connection in the t-signal switch. Black/red wire had broken loose, forgot to take that pic. Good to go now.
We will build it if it comes.
Waiting on some bits for the fresh air box, they should be here by Wednesday. Call your shipper Buddy. Early next week should work.
Drove around a bit. Drives awesome! Sounds awesome! Looks awesome!
Caps and skinny’s lookin’ OG as can be!!!
We will build it if it comes.

j/k…
nothing for a while. Need to find something all OG that doesn’t need a bunch of rust repair…
Drive it home…yeah…no!
Disassembled and carb dipped parts this morning. The fuel pump has an eroded outlet valve seat. I’m going to lap it flat.
Other parts looks great.
Funny full throttle stop rivet thing that keeps the butterfly from going fully open. Maybe because of the bus specific governor?
All rebuilt and ready to run. Fixed the valve in the pump and installed a new diaphragm.
The points in the distributor looked like new so I didn’t replace them. Set the gap to .016”. The vacuum can tested good. Everything cleaned/lubed, and a new o-ring.
The carburetor had a burned out choke….which is like a 67 only 12 volt ceramic style. I had to replace it with a 70’s metal style.(I saved old parts in a bag). Tested the electric choke and idle shut off valve. Ready to run.
Wolfsburg West parts arrived Tuesday. Yesterday morning I replaced the crusty flap seal.
Click, click, click, closed.
Fresh cover seal also.
Buddy, did you make this rear defrost mod? I like it!!!
We were short a few panel screws also. Good to go now.
We will build it if it comes.
Had breakage issues with the first set of safari latches, tried a diff supplier then usual, CIP1.
Had Wolfgang rush a set. Installing them this morning.
We will build it if it comes.
Good to go! Shipper still heading this way today?
We will build it if it comes.
Yep. Getting there late today. Pickup tonight or tomorrow
Shipper made it with daylight left. Loading now.
Thanks for letting us play with another one of your cool VWs Buddy.
We will build it if it comes.
What an awesome Single Cab!!! Sad to see go! Thanks Buddy!! 😎
Thanks to all the guys, especially Pat for all the work on this project. It’s fun to have a car there. Will keep an eye out for the next one!
Any chance you can share what you used on the sunburned/rusty areas on the roof and nose etc?
Damn those tires are sweet, nice to see something other than Firestone’s
