Welding all day.
Youโll have no problems with this piece!
I decided to do all the bush-fixโs while we had it on the bench, ย clean, and in one piece. ๐๐
Some work I did on the alternator swap today. Swapped some 90amp parts into the original Bosch housing. Looking proper. Franz doing some magic as always. Iโll keep stacking the motor a bit more tomorrowย
Whatโs it been now? 2 weeks? ย Franz has had Cole as his shadow for a ton of work and progress on this project! ย ย Been fun. ย Franz has worked a Ton of hours and surely Cole has learned A Lot about this car he will be racing across Europe!!!! ย ย What a great way to get to know your race car๐๐๐๐๐๐.
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.๐
Yup! Just over 2 weeks so far! Iโm in SLC tonight. I am here for a week to watch my dogs while Emilee does wedding stuff. Then back to KCW to finish the car! I got almost a full day in today finishing some linkage issues and stacking up more of the engine. I think Franz painted his trans mount heโs been welding on and a few other places on the car where he welded the rear sway bar.ย Been a great way to learn about the car! Seen every piece fully torn apart! Even down to the inside of the alternator! Pretty cool.
All the lower arms I have ever seen have the ball joint end pushed back and ovaled..Strap around the end would help ??
Good idea. Iโll look into that today.
I added a small piece of 3/4โ tube to support the bottom/backside of the ball joint cup.
Welded up real nice. ย Moving to the bottom side.
I was able to support the sides of the cups with some 5/16โ rod wedged in from the bottom.
Sorry for the delay in progress, I felt like this was important to address since weโre not planning to carry a spare arm.
Finished welding and touched up paint along with some other parts.
Rear sway bar mounts fully welded, sealed and undercoated the other day too.
That reinforcements on the ball joint end of the front as๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐๐ป๐๐ป
Franz has done sooooooo much welding on this rig ย Itโs gonna be solid as a tank!!
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.๐
It feels good to be putting parts back on this car!
I re-routed the positive battery cable to the smuggler box and sealed the holesย in the floor with foam and glue. Water tight.
Also, cleaned/greased the steering bearing and made a new lock plate for the steering coupler to rack bolts (the old ones broken when I folded the tabs over – last step๐คฆโโ๏ธ)

Gas tank extension to move the hose and clamp further back for clearance on the new shock towers. See the vertical tube. -
