Woooooo! I love finish fab work!
Started yesterday making a template for the glove box.
Only way to make it happen was 3 pieces.
Glove box sections Clecoecd in, and map tray templated.
Finished off yesterday fabbing the map tray and getting it rough fit.
We will build it if it comes.Pat KModeratorApril 6, 2021 at 10:12 pmPost count: 1876
Finished fitting the map tray this morning. Prepped and painted the backsides of the globe box sections and map tray.
Wrapped them in vintage 70s Naugahyde.
Plenty of space for stuff!!
We will build it if it comes.FranzModeratorApril 6, 2021 at 11:12 pmPost count: 4080
Probably the coolest car I’ve worked on.
Spent the day doing various wiring. Accessory fuse block to run the fog lights, fuel pumps, gps, and lighting. Red dash lighting, and white interior lighting via led strips attached to the roll bar padding.
Monit timing computer mounted directly to the glove box door, reminiscent of vintage rally timing clocks.
Chevy truck fuel tank selector rocker switch to toggle the dual fuel pumps and relays. ..and cleaned/re-glued the loose vinyl. New air control knobs from Sierra Madre.
GPS antennas on both corners of the hood opening/cowl, and Spot Trace mounted in the center of the dash under glass… They say gps antennas need a minimum of 12” separation. We have three of them.John JonesModeratorApril 7, 2021 at 8:31 amPost count: 7594
This project list is getting shorter by the day…. I don’t think anymore man power could be put into a project…

Another late night. Wiring mostly done. Rugged radio intercom and accessory fuse block.
Fuel pumps and relays look nuts. Pat made mounts for the foot board and monit foot switch.ColeBModeratorApril 8, 2021 at 12:52 amPost count: 2156
Dash is looking great! Everything is turning out great. Can’t wait to get a few final parts and then it’s go time 👍🏼John JonesModeratorApril 8, 2021 at 6:06 amPost count: 7594

Like Franz mentioned, I fabed and painted pass floorboard supports, he tiged the in.
Monit gps foot switch to reset trip/section times while driving, needed a mount also. Tube clamp and a piece of alum plate handled it.
Dzus fasteners mounted to the floorboard also. Working on tab mounting this morning.
We will build it if it comes.Pat KModeratorApril 8, 2021 at 10:23 amPost count: 1876

Big roadblock was the brakes! With the new struts we found out we needed different front calipers. They finally arrived today! Pat and I installed today.
Franz has been finishing wiring.
Doug came and finished some of the interior! Fixed a small rip in the headliner and made us some floor mats. Lightweight baby!ColeBModeratorApril 8, 2021 at 10:45 pmPost count: 2156
It’s really coming together! Tank in. Starting to move stuff around in the trunk. With the cage welded in we are having to love a couple things like the brake fluid reservoir and gas vapor box. Here we go!
look at that dash!FranzModeratorApril 8, 2021 at 11:04 pmPost count: 4080
Fuel tank and foam seal went in this evening. We had to come up with a plan to re-mount the brake fluid reservoir(there is a roll cage tube in the way of the outlets).
Thing are looking good. We are running out of parts to install. Front bumper install prepped for tomorrow.

Pat made a sick brake fluid reservoir mount to mount a 73 VW beetle reservoir on this morning.
I did’nt show this last night…I utilized the crack in the dash pad to route the gps wires 😁
Bumpers and tubes on.
