Hey Franz – got another question for the master assembler.
I’m wondering how you deal with the lower felt window track on the front door. In order for the latch on the slider to fit in the notches on the plate, do you trim that side of the felt?
If so, do you just trim just where the notches are, or do you trim out that whole side of the felt? Any tips?
Thanks, bro!
Brent
Yeah, just trim the notches out. Sometimes I forget to cut before gluing the felts to the frame, and have to do it carefully with a exacto knife afterwards.
Yeah – that’s where I am. Figured it out AFTER I glued them into the frame!
Thanks AGAIN, Franz!
This is bullshit… 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 I know you have gotten something done!!! Post up!!!!! (this is where I hold my breath and hope nothing bad has happened) 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎

John – sorry for the lack of pics. I’ve made some progress – but still a long way to go.
Had some setbacks – Lori had surgery and this pandemic has really screwed things up. Can’t get parts (WW is closed!) and can’t get parts back from my powdercoater.
Re: surgery – were you able to get your back surgery before this pandemic mess? Hope so – and hope you’re recovering well and PAIN FREE!
I’ll post some pics.
Be safe out there VW bros & sisses. Really – this virus is no joke.
Yber…. Nice to hear from you….. myself and my family are all good… Franz, Pat, are all good and still working, thank goodness.. KCW has been lucky to be able to sustain during slow times. I wish ALL THE BEST for first responders right now….
My surgery got cancelled.. But the last two steroid shots must have done the trick to get me back walking.. I also have been doing very very little.. Sitting seems to do me the best of anything… Walking sucks… but I can, at least do it again!!!! I think walking does me the worst of anything I do… but the data isn’t in yet on what sucks the most… 😎 I am feeling great as long as I stay seated… 😎 But I know I am getting weaker and weaker… 8-(
I’m sure you have a few things you can do on the bus if you get bored…. 😎
Hope Lori is feeling better, and at home!!!

Brent sent us some vent wings to assemble with swooshes.
The trick with swooshes is to pre-trim the rubber, then carefully line it up as it’s getting pressed together so that the rubber edge fits perfectly behind the swoosh…because you can’t get behind it them to trim the rubber.
Franz knows all the tricks!👍👍👍👍👍👍

Huh, well there ya go. Nice. Still a severe lack of photos in here! Would be nice to see this SWR beauty.
Hell yeah Brent!!! I love your bus. I really liked those vinyl covered heater wraps, been looking to get some for my bus.
do these from Wolfsburg west look close to those ones from across es the pond?
Sorry for the delay – we’ve had some family issues out of state to deal with, due to the pandemic…
Franz – you know all the tricks, man! When I had everything ready for the vent windows and gave it all a good look – I knew I’d better send them to you!
We’ve just finished the family stuff, so I’m getting back on our baby. I should be able to put in the camper and interior and then I’ll post some pics. You’re all gonna dig it – she’s so beautiful!
Hey Dario,
These look real nice – very close to what I got from Jacek.
I see you got them from WW. I didn’t think WW offered them with the vinyl covering.
I got a REAL nice repro child’s cot from Jacek. He got hold of some material that looks just like the OG green canvas. Nice!
