I just mailed a sample piece of the safari window weatherstrip I used. Should show up at KCW on Wednesday. I seem to remember that it was from the hatchback on a Saab.
lets see a pic of this seal….
No problem, Franz.
Would you mind posting a pic of it?

Do you have a link on where to buy? My safari seals are toast.
Sorry.
I bought it a few years back when someone recommended it to me – and I can’t remember where I got it.
You might try printing off the pic and trying the parts dept at a Saab dealership…
Good luck.
Wolfgang international sell similar a seal for their aftermarket safari window kit.
Hey Franz – I’m assembling the front doors on my bus and came across a couple of questions.
I’ve looked and looked and don’t see a slit in the WW weatherstrip for the vent wing that the upper tab (that gets the rivet) to go through. I don’t want to go cutting on it until I’m sure – do I need to make an opening for the tab myself or am I missing something?
Also – what tool do you use to crimp the upper rivet that serves as the pivot? Do you know where I can get one?
Thanks, man!
Yeah you have to cut the slit. sometimes there is a outline of where it should be.
I use an air hammer and the corner of a steel work bench to smash the rivets. Center punch, then flat.
The manual show a vicegrip like tool. I have some that I modified.
Door window frame assembly sucks…
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Franz – Sean at WW sent a pic of vice grip with a ball bearing on the bottom jaw. Clever. Sounds like your modified vice grip might be the same.
Any advice about how to deal with the rivets that hold the latch to the vent wing frame?
Thanks, man!
Right on John – window frame assembly is a bitch.
Any tips on how to get the vent wing glass and seal in the goddamn frame??
The manual shows a special jig to push it in. How do you guys manage it??
Wrap the rubber around the glass, then lube with silicone spray or wd40. Set frame on something that won’t scratch it. Then use a big dead-blow hammer on the glass edge to drive it into the frame…Its a rocking motion you have to start the corner nearest the vent wing latch first.
Don’t worry the tempered glass is strong.

Shipping glass and frames to KCW is another way. 🙂
