I know where one of those is…might be available. And 2 or three squarebacks as well.
Working on my dumb 73. Trying to do something every night is getting old.
I almost have all the p.o. hacks fixed.
^^^ I smell cage work coming soon!!! 😛😛
We will build it if it comes.
BAJA!!!!!!! I can’t wait to hit the desert with everyone again!!!
the 2007 would be a great baja motor…. 😎 I know mine is worn the fuck out…. 😎 I kinda want to build a new baja, maybe I could just fix mine up again…. 😎 I want a sand scorcher again…. and an early body… I miss the sand scorcher… 😎 winter project! 😎
You know how to fix air leaks on a late model dash? 😁
With my race season all finished up I decided I better push this project back inside and get back to work on it! I don’t think I have touched it since June. Up first is finish the cheapo cage kit and reinforce it into the suspension. I am struggling with the cheapo body lift kit. I really like the lifted look but it fits about like a soup sandwich.
I think that is the best post 67 dash I have ever seen Franz! 😆
So Awesome! Love the trucks in type 1s but that’s the best looking type 3 I’ve seen!
Looking good Travis, skip the body lift and let the tires rub.
What’s up guys!! It’s been a minute. I got landed some great paying customers for the balancing/machine shop. Everyone has been blowing my phone up, I’ll get back to y’all. Give me a minute to screw my head back on!!
So I sold the sandrail, I didn’t fit worth a dam in the car. Had about 1” above my head before the top rail. I still can come out and whoop on JJ with the 4 seater I did for my buddy a few years ago.
Picked up this 70 baja. Made more since, I can drive it on the street and off road, the rail was off road only. It’s a runner driver. Going to do a subi swap in it first, then do the 5.3 Chevy swap. I want heat and ac in the car.
I did some 3” lifted spindles on it, made some 3×3 rear arms, it already has a bus trans. 31” super swampers, cut the fenders, and jacked the back up. Made the tail light panel. Guess my picture order is backwards.
Do something
I think going link pin on the ball joint pan head would be interesting. Just make new trailing arms that are longer/wider to fix the beam spacing difference. I got 15” of ground clearance right now. Anymore and I’ll need to do some coil overs on the back to get that kinda lift. Front the beam is stock ball joint, just spindles.
Do something
Looking good Andy. Don’t make goofy arms. Section the pan head top portion/upper beam bolt down to link pin width. It’ll give you clearance for a saco rack and pinion. Install the electric power steering assist on top of that and you’re golden.
Kendall showed me a picture the other day from slettenengineering of a modified pan head.
Mmmm, I like your thinking franz. I wasn’t even thinking of that. That seems a lot simpler/easy to replace parts if need be.
Going to make some mirrors like the ones you had on your old red baja. I want to do some type of cage but not sure where to even start.
Do something
Here is that panhead mod I was talking about. They sectioned the middle of the pan head and dropped the top, so that beam is mounted lower than it would be on a link pin panhead. And you get some tie rod clearance too.
When Franz started in this body I thought, “Shit, he should start with something else…” 😎 But now… it looks fucking awesome!!!!!!!!
From dragging pans to badd ass class 5 cars!!!!!!
Took the guns and vws out yesterday into a corn field. Man this 1600 is a gutless turd!!! Time to prep for the subi, then do the Chevy 5.3 once it’s ready.
Do something
Hope you’re planning to buy a Mendeola transaxle and 934 cv joints before Chevy junk.
I welded radio brackets on the backside of the dash, and cleaned all the foam out of the c pilars. What a fun job. Another step closer.
Franz is making me itch for another Sand Scorcher!!!!! 😎 But I need something a bit more heavy duty this time.. so it doesn’t get beat apart!!!! 😎
I can’t wait to see the cage!!!!
