Man that’s incredible, very jealous! Mine is about $700 ($460USD) per car, for the 2 daily drivers, to the state. I also have 3 cars on “Club Permits” so have to be a member of a car club and car must be more than 25 years old, limited to 90 days use a year. $180ea ($127USD) per year. Then each has to have private insurance, on top of that.
That’s pretty much the same as where I live in the US. It varies by state, and by each county within the state. We have to pay property taxes on cars here with the annual registration. I just paid $480 for one of my buses ($38k tax value) for the year. You can register it as antique ($500 max tax value), but that brings a lot of driving restrictions.alykatParticipantJune 11, 2020 at 6:38 amPost count: 477
I have six vehicles tagged and insured right now. Total for plates yearly is just over $700 and total for insurance is just under $2000 per year.Baja MarkParticipantJune 11, 2020 at 2:42 pmPost count: 449
Makes me feel lucky to live in the UK – zero tax or inspections on historic vehicles now (rolling 40 year exemption) and insurance on a classic car policy is like £150 per year.FranzKeymasterJune 12, 2020 at 11:43 amPost count: 3627
I got horseless carriage plates for my 66 bus. They were like $50 for 5 years. Only supposed to drive to shows or parades….but in my defense, it’s a show wherever I go. 😁John JonesKeymasterJune 20, 2020 at 7:48 amPost count: 6700John JonesKeymasterJune 20, 2020 at 7:50 amPost count: 6700

On my last trip… I was mistaken as homeless and living out of my bus no less than 3 times.. I love it,,, 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 So I guess the homeless carriage won’t really work for me…😁😁😁😁Baja MarkParticipantJune 21, 2020 at 3:54 amPost count: 449
Shows how out of touch they are to think you’d be homeless and living in a 55 bus. This ain’t the 90s any more.DarioParticipantJune 23, 2020 at 9:22 pmPost count: 526
Dropped my Baja off to see if Franz can figure it out.?.?

Pat, Kevin and I got a pile of 1.5” x .120” dom to build race cars out of.FranzKeymasterAugust 28, 2020 at 8:00 amPost count: 3627
What do you guys think about this GM electric power steering kit? Probably need a 90 amp alternator to power it. Simple install. Light weight. I think I am going to order one for the Baja.

you think it can handle the abuse we put the baja’s through????
I miss hitting the trails together… we had some good times out there!!!! 😎FranzKeymasterAugust 28, 2020 at 8:42 amPost count: 3627
That’s what I’m worried about. I am sure there is some info on race-dezert.com I can look up.
I’m excited about building my Baja. I need to work on my time management skills. Between family and work I barely find time for myself these days.
I want to go scout these wild fire areas in the fall.John JonesKeymasterAugust 28, 2020 at 8:54 amPost count: 6700
Balance is tough… Been there… 😎

Supposedly the electric power steering works well on side x sides. They’re saying no larger than 33” tires and ~2000lbs. Should be good for a beetle, I’m going to try it.
This beetle project caught my eye. Looks like a really good start on an unlimited class 5 car. Jimco chassis and Mendeola transaxle included. For $15k it’s like you’re getting a free car with the purchase of a transaxle and front suspension. Does Anybody want to go half’s with me on a race car?
