So who else is interested in the Franz sanctioned off-road trip next fall?  I made a deal to buy the kid next doors ’73 standard bug for $300. Pan is wasted on the passenger side but otherwise the car is complete and not too beat up.  I see it becoming a class 11 style toy.  I can’t wait to drive all these forest roads out here and hopefully come to KCW for the weekend trip in the fall.

I acquired a wheel less ’69 pan from a bulk purchase of VW parts a while back. I think I am going to build this pan for the ’73 as I don’t have the bug at my place yet.  This is me moving a pan when the front end is rusted solid and nothing moves, but the rear wheels turn, go figure.

So who else is in?  Andy?  Ben?

Yes I’m in.. looking on Craigslist daily for a car to build. I want an irs/ball joint car.

I’m going to make a 6” wider beam to match the 3×3 arms I already have. Use those 3” lifted spindles/disc kit, maybe a body lift, and a subi swap 100%…

only problem I see with the car I’m planning to build is none of it is stock shit so if I needed to replace anything…I’d be screwed.

Been plugging away at my Baja after driving it home from Montrose the day after Thanksgiving!! Nothing like 3 10,000 foot mountain passes to break in a car that had been sleeping in the woods for the last 3 years!!! Tightened  up fenders and tail lights, adjusted brakes, lubed cables and tons of other tinkering. 🙂 Getting better and Better!!! I’m putting together a parts order and still need to cut up my tunnel and weld up my clutch, fix my wipers and a few other things but it’s a Driver!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I work on my junk today too. Getting ready for the bad winter days.

Lets go out baja-ing next weekend. Check some roads for the race. See how high we can get before the trails get bad. Divide road?
