I am getting ready to install a rebuilt trans in my 63 beetle, and want to know if anyone has tips for installing the axle tubes, etc. I have a new gasket kit and want to know if I should use anything in addition to the paper gaskets. Do you guys use gasket sealer, like Gasgacinch or something similar? My previous trans always leaked like a sieve, and I don’t want to have issues after I finish assembly and reinstall. Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks!

Oh yeah, I put silicone on every seal. I know you’re not supposed to “have to”.

And a little grease on the side cover to axle tube on the packing flower.

I have always done it exactly like Franz does.  Can’t go wrong. Make sure your axle tube flange mating surface is flat. Some of those get over torqued and wonky.
