I’m gonna ditch that motor and wiring harness. Here’s what I’m gonna do, rebuild a motor here. Rebuild some heads here, new valves and seals. Some good mls gaskets, new oil pump, new water pump. I’d like to do the motor stuff here,then ship or drive out the long block to KCW. I can reuse the intake. New engine cradle to raise it up, modify that exhaust, it bugs me still.

I wanna redo the wiring because that 6 fuse block doesn’t look good and leaves all the fuses and relays exposed. Going with my new fuse box.

I think I got a game plan.

huh???????  You want to redo the whole thing???????????????????   this is starting to sound like an “Ultimate Vanagon” fiasco!!!!!!   If we are going to change motor mounts.. maybe we do something like the RMW kit with rubber mounts..???

Hey Andy, you think a re-geared transmission would be an upgrade to do at this time? I’m sure the lower gears would be great for climbing the mountains of Colorado, but the extra RPM’s on the old engine may have done it in.

I think I still have my data sheet around here somewhere. My gear ratios allow me to climb in third gear at 55/60MPH with only about 800 RPM’s higher than cruise in 4th at 24/2500 RPM’s @65MPH.

Andy…. Should you build us a new engine.. or, should we buy one from a rebuilder that comes with a warranty? or sucker Weston into doing it?? 😎

I haven’t found anyone who will warranty a engine that’s not in its stock application.

I’ll get everything taken care of here and drive out next month with everything. Sound good?

Na, keep the pedal down!! New motor and some updates will do it good.

I was talking to Maddie, the girl I did her vanagon swap. She’s driven it all over hell and back, she doesnt have any “buck’n” issues up hills. So who knows what the Hell was causing that.

I got your replacement motor. Gonna work on it this week. I plan on driving out around the 20th in my truck. I’ll stay at the KCW INN while working on it. Then go visit my parents.
