I took it out for a good ride today. Heat works great. Gonna leave it outside tonight to see how it does on a 100% cold start. But a few small things that I wanna double check, but it’s looking and running really fucking good!
AWESOME!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much Andy and Franz!!! And thanks for finding that emblem! I’ve been meaning to look for that! 😁
I can’t wait to be back in my Vanagon!!! Newly updated and refreshed and running really fucking good!!!😁😁
What’s up with the radio?? Always on??? Do you just remove the faceplace? Otherwise I think it will result in a dead battery if you let this beast sit too long?
Haha yeah, I have to turn it off after I park… it must have been wired so you can listen to it with the van off haha
top left hand corner button, hold it down until all the lights turn off 👍🏻🙂
all the old watercooled cars were wired like that from the factory, they only had a single constant 12V wire instead of a constant 12v and a switched 12v and i was always too lazy to add a switched 12v to mine so the radio would turn off, not sure what VW was thinking back then …. it was like that until MK3 i think…. must have sold a lot of batteries back in the day!
^^ well that’s dumb! But whatever.. I’m gonna leave it alone, it’s not an issues, let’s just leave it.
I took the van out today, 150 miles on it. Heat works, motor works, cooling system works. I don’t see any issues. I’ll go for another drive in it tomorrow morning, just for fun.
All the loud fan noises gone????
I love going on adventures in our bus!!!
From the heater yes.
The loud air plane /radiator fan, that’s just what it sounds like. I doubt with this new configuration it will turn on much, if any. I raised the temp that it will turn on so I think that will help too.
Give it a good run on I-70 up to Eisonhower Tunnel. That will be a good climb and high altitude test for the cooling system.
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

That’s the drive I do to get between GJ and Boulder… probably the drive that fucked up the head gaskets before… I wish that part was a little closer than 3+ hours from GJ so he could try it… but I also feel like maybe I should try a different route home sometimes so I don’t fuck it up again… It is a big climb for a lot of the 5 hour drive. Colorado problems… haha
SO stoked to hear it is running all good again!! And no more loud heater! Whoop whoop!!!
andy is the bomb 😁
thank you thank you thank you!!!
I got 200 miles on the van. Works like it should. I’ve been getting dam good gas mileage, I’m mid 20’s with it, like 25 range.. slow down, if your driving 80 your gonna kill this thing.
My balls aren’t that big, so 65-70 was more than enough for me. If you have to hammer down, just do it to pass. 65mph it’s about 3200 rpm. I’ve yet to get the air plane fan to kick on while driving, only way I got it on was letting it sit and idle for a longass time.
Sounds good, will do!!
thanks so much Andy! I really appreciate all the work you’ve done and all the test driving to make sure all is good!!
Hopefully you see JJ and Corporate soon!
I’m “supposed” to wait for them to be home so I can see them when I pick up my van , but it’s going to be tough to wait!! 😁
Andy…. This is my first read of this… Corporate has been telling me what’s going on.. I REALLY REALLY appreciate you doing all this and that to my daughters Van.. I know I owe you some money…. I will get square with you asap…. You might have already emailed me.. but I haven’t checked email since I left the compound!!!!! I’m hoping we can stop by and see you on our way up the cali coast…. But if it doesn’t work out… then I will catch up with you when I get home…. if I go home… 😎
Andy, Your awesome, Thank you very very much,,..
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.👊
