I talked to her. It’s the “T” in the rear heater loop. It’s a 5/8” plastic “t” that broke… that’s vw Parts right there JJ!!!! Guess I should have installed a Subaru heater! 😉😉😉😉😉

    Sounds like everything is handled.

Heres the picture…. fingers crossed they know what’s up over at that shop… they seemed like decent guys so fingers crossed. They said they’d try to fit it in around lunch today. I’m just hoping it’s not the head gaskets, but the coolant in the inline still looks like good green coolant and oil still looks good…

I had found a broken clamp and fixed that, but a couple miles later saw that still wasn’t the issue… I wish I could have fixed it! It’s hard to leave my van somewhere random

the drive to GJ last weekend was great!! So hopefully nothing too major…

    Well…. fuck…

dam vw Parts bit us in the ass😎!  I’ll redo all the heater hoses and fittings.

Sounds like everything else works fine, just that one fitting broke caused this.

maybe we can source a different front heater, one that isn’t so dam loud??

we rolled the dice, lost, shit sucks.

It’s all good Andy! Thank you for always being available to call for help! We lost the lottery… Dang it!

Sucks that this is happening… I was hoping picking the newer VW meant it would be cheaper to build, but it doesn’t seem to be the case with this one😔 I hope after the new head gaskets we will be smooth sailing!!! I think this was the right choice for the long run, just still working out the kinks…

I am very very grateful for my Dad and Andy helping so much with this project!! Thank you guys so much!!

My Dad is going to drive to Idaho springs to pick up my van tomorrow and bring it back to the shop… THANKS DAD!!!!!

I have the best Dad in the world 😊

    I miss my Vanagon already!!

Sorry JJ! It all happened because that vw plastic “T” broke. Not subi swap shop related!!

Heres my game plan now, I’ll redo all the heater stuff. And might as well change the vw vanagon stock radiator hoses too. All new rubbers, I guess I was under the impression it was a true driver before..

ill get a Parts list ordered and on the way to KCW.

Gretchen, I got your package! Thanks! I’ll have dates for you here in a few. My girlfriend wants to come along, so we can go to some wine tasting 🤮 ..so we will take the van on a few day trips so we can test it out. Once it’s back in action.

I duuno Andy.. I think the head gaskets were bad from the get go, not real real bad.. but very used up… The mechanic I talked to.. said this was super common on the subi’s.. The head gasket goes bad, it pumps pressure into the cooling system, and also puts an air bubble at the water pump that it just can’t push through..  He said usually it blows the radiator.. but in this case, the plastic Tee gave up…  The harder and faster you drive it, the more pressure it puts in the system..  etc,,, etc,,, etc,,,     But I’m not here to argue about it…

Someone has sold us on the idea of subi’s being cheap big horse power..  But thats ONLY if you get lucky and find a perfectly good motor.  I’m now wondering if we should just start with a rebuilt motor..  I feel like I have a shit load of money in this now.. and we are back to taking out the motor.. 8-(

Thats probably why it was so hard to get the air out of the system… It was pumping it right back in….  I bet it would have been fine around town…  But we got big ol hills here in colorado…. and a 5 hour drive between here and there…  8-(    I bet it got hot, finished off those gaskets and it is been down hill since….. 8-(

We can only make educated guesses now.

i think new gaskets will fix this problem, if her motor still runs no need to replace what isn’t broken.

Don’t just deck the heads if they are warped. They need to be professionally straightened before any decking takes place. Reason being, is the cams are in the heads, and decking the mating surface on a warped head will bind the cam and break it. Most likely they are alright though.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

Yeah we can have em surfaced, a quick .010 off them wouldn’t hurt. Worked at 2 engine shops that do them all the time.

I think clean shop Chris knows some kid at an engine shop in Junction!??? Maybe that kid can get us same day service??? Yo lowlifechris where you at???

we got 3 more cars from him JJ. 2 bays and a Baja!!

I keep meaning to text corporate with dates..

Lets do this right this time… 😎    It smokes like a factory now, and hard to get started.. Plugs get soaked over night..    I think on Audrey’s first trip home… Without a thermostat… In 100 miles her engine should be up to operating temps.. and her heat should have worked perfectly… but it couldn’t… cause of the air bubble the heads kept pushing into the system…    anyway…

Text Corporate date’s and what not..  I want you to do it… I’d rather not add any other fingers in the pie…  You can go check out your Dad’s future home and hit Palisade for the wine… 😎  I’d prefer to do it sooner than later…. 😎
