I heard Greta took a wrong turn and almost went to eastern Colorado 😘😘
hard to believe this was only a week ago that I was driving aimlessly though northern New Mexico… East..? west? who knows where I was but it was beautiful!! 😍😅😂 I managed to make a 4 hour drive 7.5 hours last Sunday 🙈 but made it to Rusty’s house!! 🥳
Buses and balloons looked fun. Maybe 70 buses ? I made a wrong turn in northern Idaho a few years back and almost landed in Canada….Ha
hahaha oh man… sometimes you’re just having fun driving your bus enjoying the views – Too much fun to even look at a map, ya know? 😅
Busses and Balloons was a great time!!! I drove all the way to Albuquerque to see some balloons and saw ONE float up for a moment before coming right back down due to wind… oh well! Had an amazing time with all the VW people, new and old 👏🏻 I hear 103 buses showed up to the event- what an awesome turn out!! Sarah let me crash her camp last minute and we had a cute little set up going ☺️
Couldn’t get people into the Pumpkin Carving Contest, so instead I randomly passed them out around camp😁 check out those cool shelves hanging from the rain gutters?? SO COOL! Maybe we can convince Sarah to post a pic of the one she was gifted last weekend on River 😍Before leaving town, Sarah, Big Bus Mike, his friend William, and I stopped at a museum/display called Tinkertown 😁 It was a super eclectic art and collections showcase outside Albuquerque! Fun and seriously unique! Lots of random things to look at and appreciate and lots of good signs too 😁
Total of right around 800 miles for that trip and Greta CRUSHED it 😎👏🏻 As usual!!!! I love my bus

Driving out to SoCal… that was not what I was expecting let’s just say that! This was between Beaver and Saint George… it was so bad I had to pull over on the side of the highway once, get back going, then ultimately decide to stop at a rest stop for a few hours.. oh hey also – remember how my windshield wipers don’t work?? That was super 🤪 semis throwing slush at me while I leave my window down with a towel in hand so I can re-wipe my windshield over and over… hahaha only VW owners would deal with that shit 😂😂😂 in the morning it was not letting up but I really didn’t want to get seriously snowed in so I went for it when it was light and it was a mistake at first but then worth it when 20 minutes down the road there wasn’t a flake of snow in sight. WHAT?! Crazy crazy Utah weather 🤪😂
On Monday morning I woke up at Rusty’s house to a phone call from Hayley Hart, that Creig Hart – Outlawvdub (on Instagram at least) – and our Jamaican-Canadian long time buddy here around the shop, is in the hospital. 😔 so I drove home, changed Greta’s oil, and was on my way to Cali that night.
Unfortunately Creig slipped and cracked his head open, but upon being treated for that started having strokes in the hospital and they found a major heart infection as well. He was moved from the ICU to the Cardiac Critical Care Unit on Thursday at Scripps in La Jolla. They are taking it day by day, and he is still trying to regain his strength from the strokes before he has surgery for a tissue valve replacement on Tuesday. Unfortuently due to Covid Hayley is the only one who can go see him, and even for her it is a major ordeal to get to him… but she called me so I could come be with the boys so she can spend every minute possible with Creig right now. She’s even been able to sleep there the last couple nights which is great.
Please keep Creig and his family in your thoughts ❤️ He is getting better each day thank goodness and he is so healthy and strong otherwise that I really do believe he’s going to come back from this and be mountain biking and watching the boys play hockey again soon ❤️Greta was amazing. I drove her the 800 miles to Temecula in a hell run like one would do with a new car, and she didn’t protest until we got to the dreaded traffic. I literally made it to the exit for the Harts house when she called it quits. I let her cool off and then hobbled her to their house… Sarah‘s friend Robert lives in Encinitas and is a mechanic and he offered to help me out. I’ve got her parked at the Harts now, and I’m driving their GIANT sprinter around for the boys; so I’m good for now, but will eventually want Greta fixed, of course.
Creig had surgery yesterday and made it through perfectly!!!! YESS!! ❤️ He had a tissue valve replacement in his heart, and the surgeon said it looked pretty bad in there so it’s good everything happens for a reason and he got into surgery when he did.
Thank you for all your messages and positive thoughts. The Harts and I are really feeling the love from the many friends reaching out and thinking of us 🥰
Greta went to Roberts house in Encinitas to get some repairs… he dropped the tranny fluid and there was gear oil and water in there 🥴 he’s thinking she may need a tranny rebuild from Paradise. He’s Going to give her a full look over for me so she’s ready to rock for more adventures. I am so so thankful to have such amazing friends in the VW community. ❤️ And such amazing parents for helping coordinate all this and for introducing me to all these people in the first place.
I have driven Greta all over the country and so many miles without any major issues, so it’s lucky I made it here to the Harts and also lucky she broke in a good location for parts and shops… not in the middle of South Dakota or something random 😜
