I wanted to start a thread and keep it up to date about my journey to, through, and back from the Shasta Snow Trip this year.  I have attempted to go twice, I have only been successful once..  😳  😳  😳   I think it was 2013 that I went and ran the whole thing, and had a great time!!   In case some of ya don’t recall…. We built a bus for a few blokes on the other side of the pond….  Simon…   and he brought his mate Mike….  We had a few tiny issues, but nothing big… it was a success.  I took my old Turkis bus.. which was my first stock height bus. 😉

I have not done any prep as of yet, but thats changing today…. Pat Peet is going to work on my bus… The 55 Pamper.. 😉   I’ll try and pop in and show you some of what we look at before a road trip….

I have not decided my route or plan just yet….  Or whom I plan to meet up with…  I heard there are two routes this year… one from north… Oregon I think..  and one from the south…. Rampage spot I imagine???

a pic from the day we left

If you end up going through Ely, Nevada again on the way out, stop and get a picture in front of the old high school. It’s right on main street across from the city park. I graduated from there in 1976. Fuck, I’m old!

Love to go on at least one Shasta trip. If I get this ’67 standard, I’ll keep it all VW just for that!

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

I’m jealous.  The scenery and terrain you’ll get to see will be fantastic.  Take lots of pictures for those of us stuck at home tethered to our responsibilities! 😀

Well this seems like an appropriate place for you to finally detail your road trip repair kit! Let’s see what tools and parts you can’t leave without JJ!

I will be watching this one, love to see what you guys get to do in your bus. I agree with Willy, seeing the type if stuff you take with you just in case would be cool.

So what route are you going on? The southern start off Bartlett Springs road. Or the Oregon start at Lance Armstrong’s house with all the grilled cheese sandwiches you can eat. You never know what could break so it’s hard to pack extra parts. Probably already have all the tools and repair parts in your bus that you will need.

I haven’t decided cause I didn’t know where they are meeting/ starting…  I was kinda leaning towards going to Damons house in Stockton… Or Kombi Haus in Sac…..   I’m not on face book.. so I need to call someone I guess… 😳

Plan on it.. I’ll show you guys what I take… it’s really not much… I try to keep it maintained and not drive like a dumb ass and break it.. 😉  😉  😉  😉  😉   If I do get  wild hair.. well…. It’s a risk….

Pat has gotten to it….   tranny fluid, including reducs, engine oil, look in all the drums, check the bearings, repack probably, remove rockers, retorque heads if need be, do valves, done. 😉  😉  😉   My Dells are happy as a clam.. 😉

Dan… did you go to Lance’s last year?  Where does he live??

Looks like Bartlett Springs road is probably the route  to the Rampage spot? Same as we took years ago?  Looks DIRECTLY west of Grand Junction… so probably the shortest route for me….  I want to go through Reno for sure..

Only this site can we do this type of stuff, hit the road and someone will let you crash in.
