I’ve been working on this ’59 Single cab for the last few years but been hesitant to post up. Might not be everyone’s flavor but thought someone might find it interesting and I like to watch other peoples projects. Here are a couple of pics of it when I bought it from Greg and Clara in Olympia, WA. After I finished the ’59 beetle I swore I would never buy a rusty car again so what do I do but buy one of the rustiest cars I have ever seen. The lower valance is gone. The floor is gone along with the doglegs, bed, treasure chest, battery box lower rear corners, hacked in vents etc.

Plan is to fix the rust, lower it and maybe (oh no here we go) Subaru power.

The bulkhead was pretty beat up so I just cut it off to straighten it and will weld it back on later.IMG_20150909_154854IMG_20150909_161609

Looks like a very involved project. Stay focused, couple hours a night and weekends youll be done with all that metal work sooner then you think, then it just hours of body work and sanding.

Plan is to fix the rust, lower it and maybe (oh no here we go) Subaru power.

Glad to hear you havent dedicated your self to subaru. Theres still hope for you..lol

We will build it if it comes.

My original plan was to go with a 3″ narrowed axles, a 2″ trans raise and a 6″ narrowed beetle torsion housing but after some mach up I realized it was going to be a lot of work and actually tucked the wheels in more than I was hoping. Here’s some more below average quality pic’s.

Modified a solid mount trans cradle for a 2″ raise. This is just for mach up. Going to run hd rubber mounts when finished.

Here’s how close the rim comes to the frame with the narrow axles and beetle torsion tube. 16X8 Fuchs fakes.
