Good choice Paul, it will get done. You'll be happy. Pretty cool idea, your old man will love it. He have any idea?

Nope, clueless. He said, and I quote, " never see that thing again", when she was driven on the hauler. He's under the impression I'll be doing the work, and has keen knowledge of my abilities...

That's the plan. How fast does an old dude need to go, anyhow? Probably change my thinking when I'm the "old dude", but for now…that's the plan.

That's a cool idea. He is going to crap his pants. A motor swap will be easy at a later date. But a nice solid running 1600cc dual port is all u need for a cruiser. Smile 8-[

Hi y'all. I'm "the guy", name's Paul Sexton. Been snooping y'all's forum pages and like what I'm seeing.
A little history on the SC… My Dad's had it for 25 years!! Fosho…25 years. He's hammered and filled, hammered some more, never got her finished and last Thansksgiving decided to sell it, gave it to me instead. Dad's turning 80 in AUG. How cool would it be to regift his SC, all done up nice and pretty in KCW style?… pretty damn cool, huh?
I'm currently in Central Texas. You'd think there'd be ample air-cooled aficionados, but no. Contacted the local VW club president for a list of reputable shops…. and there's none he'd recommend. Except KCW in CO. So, here we are.
Been amassing a rather large pile of Benjis… we'll see what happens.

That's some great background, Paul. Hope you film your dad's reaction of him seeing the bus restored. You've got some time to plan out how you're going to surprise him though, I'd say at least a month or three at the pace KCW works. Wink

Looking forward to following along. =D>

I'm with John. Start now. August is just around the corner....even at KCW speed. \:D/
911 operator: What is your emergency ? Me: Some asshole just pulled out in front of me & totaled my car! 911: Are you injured? Me: No. 911: Is the other driver injured ? Me: Not yet....but you should probably send an ambulance.
