Looking good Omar. Looks like your on track to leave Friday morning. Just a little advice from experiance though. Make sure you do a good check out run before hitting the dunes. Don't rush it. In the past, I've lost some pretty expensive R/C airplanes by rushing them into flight after an all nighter. Maybe not the same thing as a rail, but I wouldn't want to hike off the dunes due to a small detail. Smile
Let me draw you a fucking picture!

You want to come over tonight and make sure I didn't eff anything up? I still need to bleed the brakes and clutch line [-o< Was planning on leaving tonight but that's not happening... leaving Friday morning hopefully.

Oh yeah, here's a link to the video from last night:

Ben came over and helped out, it was awesome. Ben helped me fix some leaks in my brake line while I ran some fuel lines and hooked up the breather box. Bled the brakes and clutch and mounted the oil filter. Got some fuel and fired this thing up Smile

Was idling a little rough, might try and get my buddy Brandon to take a quick look at the carbs before I hit the road in the morning.

Anyways, stuffed two ammo boxes with tools and maintenance stuff, mounted my seats, and I though I was done for the night...

Almost forgot about my trailer spare tire mount... Gave that some love too. Another long night, but I'm done! \:D/

After that, I hit the road!

Good weekend overall. Smooth sailing? Well, not so much.

Started with my drive out of town. Loading the trailer like you see in the picture above was a big no no. Couldn't go over 55mph without the trailer fishtailing... it sucked. Flipped the trailer around (which meant that I had to drive over the wheel wells) and that thing towed perfectly. Disaster avoided.

Other issues were that my battery died completely. Either my alternator doesn't work or I wired something incorrectly (my guess). I did get a day and a half of driving this thing without charging the battery, so I think the Optima did OK. Shifting is kind of tricky, the gears are so close with that shifter. Reverse started acting up, so I may or may not have effed that up, but who needs to go in reverse anyways? Smile

Great times, engine ran great, tranny did well (minus reverse), and everything minus my alternator/alternator wiring worked well. Hey, at least I had a better time than these guys:

Well you are a mining engineer, not an electrical engineer. Smile Glad everything went well and you had a good time.

Thanks again for the help Ben. Checked out some diagrams yesterday and I'm pretty sure I know where I went wrong with the alternator. I never powered up the D+ side on the alternator... I hooked it up to the warning light and instead of powering the other terminal on the light I went ahead and grounded it [-(

Late night blunder I guess, but at the time it made sense haha.

Used reverse on my gravel driveway and it does pop out... I wonder how much this little joke is going to cost me ](*,) ](*,)

I'll be writing a summary post sometime soon I hope.

I took this picture thinking about the Trailer Taco thread... delicious. No stray dogs to be seen in that block, kinda weird :-#

I fixed the wiring this morning, looks like I have a working alternator, alternator light, and oil dummy light. Engine sounds pretty healthy, so I am very happy the engine is holding up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyuFVKiv ... ata_player

Summary for May:
* Finished up the engine and installed the engine.
* Installed front lights, and adjusted the front suspension.
* Ran all new brake lines and the clutch line.
* Mounted all my accessories: tach, gauge console, breather box, ignition box, etc...
* Ran all new wiring from scratch for the first time ever. Learned a few lessons doing so (alternator #-o )
* Got a trailer and rigged up a spare tire mount
* Finally and most important, had a blast working on my long overdue project, cruised on the beach, had a few (a lot) of beers, and had some bomb seafood and tacos as well.

Thanks to anyone that showed any interest in this, helped to keep me going for sure.

Rolled this into my garage last night. Been sitting for way too long (almost a year!) Going to give this some love and have it ready to roll for Memorial Day Weekend again, like last year.

Franz, could you move this to Reader's Rides? Thanks man.
