I have yet to have any first hand experience with the Autocraft, however I will say the Gerson hasn't impressed me all that much. Next repair panel I get will be Autocraft for sure.

Why buy when you can build?
I've spent hours on parts that you can buy for pennies.

Alex - the bus stuff from them seems very good - The beetle stuff Ive had for my expensive oval ( zwitter ) is not as good as the Wolf stuff - but is much less money

Cool, good to know! You're Bus is coming along nicely!

I'm digging the Cosmic stuff. I assume they're the same makers as the elusive Cosmic rims?

Image

Welded in place

Centre chassis section in place

All welded in

Image

Rear top hat and inner sill at rear

Image

Rear top hat removed

Image

New one in place

Image

outer sill and stregthener inner surfaces protected with rust bullet

Image

Rotten end of I beam removed

Image

New one in place prior to final welding

Image

Front outrigger in place

Image

Front top hat welded in place - bulkhead panel also replaced in centre

Image

Again welded to the chassis rail

Image

Rear short panel repair going in - a few spot welds then cleaned back - every one cooled with compressed air to stop warpage - What a long and tedious task - legs kept going to sleep !!!

Image

Floor panel offered up to get some bearings and also a little adjustment

Image

Able to get sill in right place and get alignment for doors etc set

Image

rear short panel fully welded and cleaned back.

Image

Floor set against the sill to get good fitment

So thats pretty much it for this month - Chassis rebuild - Nothing exciting but the start of any restoration .

More to follow next month - Regular updates ---- I promise ........ :-k
