My entry into the January Build-off

I've been putting this off for a couple years and basically canibalized this car to keep my other cars going. These pics are atleast a year old. That means I've accumulated a years worth of more shit on top of and around it. It's going to take me until January just to dig it out of the corner of the garage.

My goal for the end of January is to make this car a driver again. Install engine, finish up front end, see what the brakes need, notch springplates, and new shoes. I'm told the 5" beam that is in this car was once in John's ghia drag car.

I know the one issue I'm going to have is parts. I've got to get this thing dug out and see what I need to order. There isn't anywhere to buy aircooled parts in my area...

Haha, Yeah my goal might be a pinch on the ambitious side.. Smile

I just bought the empi doghouse shroud for my westy.
Alot of people bitch about them not having as many veins as a scat or og.

But i ran one in my old daily driven panel in severe summer heat with a load on a beat ass 1641 and never had any issues. my low light ran one too.

My only complaint is that if you want to body work it straight the top of those shrouds have a pretty big flat spot that needs built up about 1/4" or more to get your profile uniform.

heres the one i did for my lowlight notice the built up top in the first pic.

when you get this project done you should put together another cool video like that one of your panel

^very nice bro. I can't do any paint/body work in my garage during the winter months..just doesn't get warm enough with a torpedo heater.

Ordered more parts today, hopefully not forgetting anything that will hold me up Smile

Jobe your ^^ looks like glass, outstanding work. There is going to be some nice rides at the end of Jan. This build off was an excellent idea to get people motivated and get cranking on stuff that has been waiting for some love, and get some traffic on the site. =D>

Thanks jon,
I worked for a body shop when i did that tin,
they let me in small things to paint after hours when the booth wasnt too tied down. Im freinds with them still and will probably look into some booth time to spray the 59' im doing for the build off. since i dont have my own place.

Do you have a shroud in mind?

That shroud is one i did for my old low light. Jon is thinking of running one on the 58' Thanks for the compliment. Its a pretty rewarding feeling when that clearcoat gets layed down and you see all of your hard work litterally shine. Smile

Happy New Year Y'all!

Car is dug out, wiped it down, tore the tins off the engine. Going to work on cleaning it up, get the new tins on and clean up the firewall before I leave for work tonight. Let's get it on! =D>
