Buy a set of GOOD ported heads with matching manifolds. I use either Tims stage 1 or CB's Los Panchito's. Both great heads that work awesome good for 10 to 30 hp out of the box.

Flywheels don't help you get up hills, horsepower does. A heavy flywheel makes it easier when you drop the clutch from a dead stop, that's it.

Engle did change their cam billets, and as long as you use engle lifters, your ok.
Otherwise you need to make sure the Rockwell hardness for the Cam and the Lifters are compatible.

Thats interesting information.

I wonder why Engle switched, It seems they have a pretty consistant backround for reliability.

Im not sure, but when SoCal Imports bought Engle a couple of years ago, they started promoting their lifters, and spring kits. They'll warrantee their cams, if you use their lifters.

With the old CWC blanks, we would run empi billet lifters with tons of spring pressure and no wear issues/no failures.

The new SC-1 blanks start to pit right away with those same lifters. I'm now running engle lifters, and Brad Penn oil (for the ZDDP)

So Something changed....

Steve Long (SLR) in Corona has a good rep for providing matching Cam & Lifter hardness.

Good luck with it Alex. An engine build is one thing I've yet to attempt...maybe your work will motivate me to give it a try... :-k

I've got a feeling January is going to fly by... \:D/
