will 15x7's (Fuchs) fit under the rear of a bay window ?

Postby 61ragtop » Wed Oct 17, 2012 2:14 pm

Hi, I bought a 1970 westy and I am going to lower it. I have a question about wheels. I have a friend that has 2 15x7 Fuchs and I want to know if anyone out there knows if they will fit under the rear of my westy? I already have 2 15x6's ( not deep 6's ) I would like to use on the front. The part I want to know about is the width, will the 7's fit inside the fender or will the rear need to be narrowed? This thing still has the stock 14's on it and is very rust free. I want a split but I figure after I get this lowered me and my kids can take it to a few shows next year while I continue to search for my pre 67. Thanks for any help on wheel fitment and what I may need to do to make them fit. Sorry if this is not the right place for this question!

I bought the 15x7's but I don't think they are going to work ( they are deeper than the phone dials ) .I think I will put them on one of my beetles for now. I will figure out the wheels when I have all the lowering stuff finished. Thanks for your help!

gotcha on the offsets. You might want to read the build thread on that bus because the torsion housing has been narrowed 2.5" for those wheels to fit.

I was afraid of that! I think I will put the Fuchs on one of my beetles for now. I don't know if I can narrow the torsion housing in my little shop and afraid I want get it right. I don't mind welding body panels in, but I want to know my suspension is right because my kids will be in this thing with me. Thanks for the help guys
