Who's Jon? :-k

I still haven't descided on use of this bus....stock height or lowered? I have a smallnut Trans drum to drum from a 59? What's that gearing gonna look like for a 2L tho? If lowered I think I might go the type 3 beam/IRS route like your single Steve? Theme of this build is still super low Bud_get.... If I could get disk brake, stock adj torsion adjustable, 4" narrower.....for a couple hundy =P~ That would be right up my alley for this bitch!

You'll probably hate a 2L with a small nut.

You're a do-it-yourselfer, no reason why you can't mix/match and mod stock parts to get it lowered. Won't cost too much more than time.

Not ready for stock height eh? :-k [-X [-( bus would be sick lowered or a highriding camp machine... I don't HAVE to 2L it :-" but I have a 2276 stashed away....I could chuck a 1600 in it and have to get one of those stupid slow magnets :-&

I spent last night tearing into my cargo doors...forward one had a big munch in it and a rusty inner bottom, rear just a rusty inner and a couple pinholes in the skin. I attacked the front one, cut out inner for access for shrinking the skin. Some time with my fav tool the shrinking disk and it's looking way better!

Pic doesn't show it but the rusty spot here was stretched out like your favorite pornstar :-s

Recycled a funky green cutoff of barndoor nose skin to fab up a new seal channel.

Not sure what's on the plate tonight for church....might be a green oval night?

Hahaha join the kids club JB! If its your first bus I say slam that shit. Everyone needs a slammed bus in their life.
Once you get sick of shovelling pavement with your bumpers, its easy to go back to stock.
I bet this wont be your last bus anyway so it doesn't matter which way you go, you'll eventually end up building the alternative anyway :-$

Ya no rush figuring that aspect of the build out.....lots of rust repair to do before gotta descide on suspension 8-[ won't be any room in the shop for me to drag the bus there and really get cranking for a good long while so until then I thought I'd dial in all the removables so she's a breeze when time comes.

Right on Silas, I've been on many of those backroads growing up...sooke hills were always the go to party spot \:D/ More I think about it the more I like the idea of ridin high \:D/

Gary busted me on IG diving into my seat frames....cut up a late model rear bug seat for donor springs and frame patches. Flipper section of the middle seat had worst frame rot.

Lowlight scraps

Like I needed more shit to turn into sugar the trade on my front seat was waiting on the door step when I got off work =D>

Image

Gonna need some love but totally workable and correct for the bus!!! =D>

One cargo door done

The Aft one is worse...gonna have to do the outer skin too. When we found the bus it had yellow Fiberglas house insulation packed in all the voids, held lots of funk in there ](*,)

Spun up some oversize cargo door pins today on my lunch hour Wink factory is 6mm, I cut the heads off OG ones after I centre drilled them on the lathe. used .250" drill rod and knurled them then step cut the ends to fit into and centre the mushroom heads, will zap a tack on the ends and buff off....will look og :-"

Thx bro Smile

Reamed jalopy hinges oversize to .250" (something like .020" over) and drove in my new pins....ready for another 1000000 openings

Both cargos are 100% done now.

Paint stripped my OG emblem, 3 layers of paint later and found the silver white and little L31 stripe detail Wink

I wish I could afford all the metal I need for this project....instead I'll focus on all the goodies. Thinking its time I attacked some safari repairs.... :-&

Image

The way these were made originally is bizarre! Thinking I'm gonna have to make some sort of press die/jig to form repair sections?
